Nora, the protagonist of the play, has been treated like a doll throughout her life — just like most girls in our society or in Victorian society. She’s been treated as a doll rather than a human being. Before marriage, she was her father’s doll; after marriage, she became her husband’s doll : A doll to play with, a doll to treat however you like, a doll to showcase, a doll to control. But while a doll and a doll’s house may look beautiful and stable, the reality is different. Not only a doll's house is unable to survive storms like calamities but also in a doll’s house, you can’t expect a doll to be independent, to think for herself, or to develop her own identity. The concept of the ideal Victorian marriage — or ideal marriage in general — is exposed here. Not only that, the notion of so-called love is also shattered. There’s a huge difference between loving someone and controlling someone. So let’s read the play and see whether this doll’s house, built on patriarchal dominance and control, can survive or not. *Don't copy, but you can share the post 🙂 #bookstagram #books #review #literature
