Sydney based Reed Quintet 🇦🇺

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What a wonderful day of musical discovery at our Winter Camp extension day with Ironbach Ensemble.

Today, students have been immersed in chamber music techniques, developing valuable skills in ensemble playing. They have gained new insights into performing in a smaller group setting and learning how to play independently without a conductor.

The repertoire has certainly been a challenge, but the students have embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and we are excited to showcase their learning at this afternoon’s concert!

We are also looking forward to the 5pm Ironbach Ensemble concert - a wonderful opportunity to experience an inspiring ensemble performance. 🎵

A big thank you to everyone involved in making this day such a success!

About Ironbark Ensemble:
“The realisation of Mussorgsky’s original keyboard caricatures by the reed quintet was done so using an impressive arrangement. Contrasts between titled movements or sections of movements were handled with virtuosic stasis of mood as well as knife-edge shifts in atmosphere.” Paul Nolan — Sydney Arts Guide.

Ironbark Ensemble stands as a beacon of innovation within Australia’s vibrant chamber music scene. Established in 2021, this distinguished ensemble brings together five accomplished musicians, each celebrated for their prowess as soloists, chamber musicians, and contributors to esteemed orchestras such as the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Opera Victoria, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

With each performance, Ironbark Ensemble not only showcases their exceptional musicianship but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the richness and diversity of chamber music. As they continue to break new ground and inspire audiences across Australia and beyond, Ironbark Ensemble remains at the forefront of artistic exploration and creative expression in the realm of chamber music.

| Ironbark Ensemble presents ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ |

What started as an idea and phone call with @henshawsax earlier in the year led to an afternoon of premiere compositions and art from local artists all bookended with selections from Mussorgksy’s ‘Picture at an Exhibition’

This was brought to the life by the incredible @ironbarkensemble featuring members - Edward Wang, @rowenawatts87 @greg_taylor1000 @ajcracken + @henshawsax

A big thanks to the other composers @diegoidarragamusic + @keynawilkins and visual artists @quinteross6 @reikoazumaart + @sidney.teodoruk for their openness, generosity and contributions to the concert

here are some highlights from the day courtesy of @emtakesportraits 📷

Yesterday was a great day! Ironbark Ensemble premiered Hades Suite, my latest composition. Sidney Teodoruk inspired by the music, created an art work. Do you see the resemblance?

Also new works by Keyna Wilkins: Composer/Musician and Wesley Stormer - Composer were performed by Ironbark Ensemble.

It truly was a wonderful day 🎶
