Grateful to share that CREATE (@create.council) is one of 59 organizations receiving a NYSCA Reserve Fund Grant! Our $30,000 award will establish a reserve fund, helping us to keep serving our community through whatever comes next.

This program recognizes how much volatility nonprofits face, and how much stability reserves provide. Thank you, New York State Council on the Arts (@nyscouncilonthearts) + New York Foundation for the Arts (@nyfacurrent)!

Congratulations to our neighbors in Columbia, Greene, and Schoharie Counties who were also awarded NYSCA Reserve Fund Grants: @iroquoismuseum @ps21chatham @athensculturalcenter @hudsonhallny

Todays features from Sa:gwáyoˀ Gayogo̱hó:nǫˀ/Cayuga People, We Returned explore Gahswga:Ɂ hogyaɁdawíhdǫh and Stone Sculptures.

Gahswga:Ɂ hogyaɁdawíhdǫh, or Stone Giants (literally “Stone Coats”), populate Hodinǫhsǫ́:nih teachings. Some accounts relate that these giants may appear human at first glance and are distinguished by their stony scales and clothes. In these accounts of Gahswga:Ɂ hogyaɁdawíhdǫh, Hodinǫhsǫ́:nih hunters often come face to face with these mighty beings. In such encounters, hunters must rely on their individual ingenuity or their party’s collective talents and wisdom to come out alive—and not all do. Some Gahswga:Ɂ hogyaɁdawíhdǫh perish when hunters remove their scales or set them up to drown. Other Gahswga:Ɂ hogyaɁdawíhdǫh become friends and allies with their Hodinǫhsǫ́:nih neighbors.

RIghts never come without a struggle, and never came without great loss and sacrifice. This Labor Day, remember what your forefathers fought for, what they suffered through, to demand safe working conditions, an end to child labor, fair wages, and to create the middle class.

Then go support local businesses. Feed the people that feed the people, not the corporations that feed the beast. 🇺🇸🏕️🛶💖✌️

It is the duty of each generation to protect our rights and freedoms for the next. Mass government surveillance is an unconstitutional threat to us all. It’s what grandpa warned about. Heck, it’s what the US Department of Defense warned us about just a generation or two ago. And we need only look at places like Communist East Germany to see why. Today the threat is in our backyard. Our tax dollars are being used to fund the dismantling of our rights, and the legacy we owe the next generation. It’s real, it’s now, and we can’t stand for it. Let’s Get the Flock Out!

Also don’t forget to shop, spend, eat, hike, and just spend time local! Your neighbor isn’t the enemy. The crappy unregulated system is. 🇺🇸🏕️🛶💖✌️
