As our CH Construction team is working hard at the Park House, behind the scenes we’re in the soft finishes phase now; pulling together the final layers: aged woods, sculptural forms, deep earthy tones, antique-inspired lighting, worn metals, rich textiles, and objects with soul. The goal is a home that feels timeless, grounded, and quietly lived-in — never too new, never too perfect.

We’ve been so wrapped up in actually doing the work — moving projects forward, making design decisions, sourcing finishes, solving problems and spending our days on site — that sharing it all here has taken a bit of a back seat.

Five years ago, we started our first project together with no real idea of where it would lead.

I came from a career in marketing and PR. Chase spent years working as a music producer and engineer. Neither of us had taken a traditional path into design, development, or construction—but we shared a love of old homes, thoughtful details, and the process of creating something deeply personal.

What began as one passion project slowly became another, and then another. Seven homes later, we still have moments when we look at each other and cannot quite believe that this has become our life and our business.

Each house has taught us something new, challenged us in a different way, and helped shape what Cove House is becoming.

Five years in, and it still feels like we are only getting started.

The prettiest stone isn’t always the right stone.

When we’re sourcing marble, we’re looking at far more than the slab in isolation—the scale of the movement, the undertone, where the veining will fall after fabrication, and how it will relate to every other material in the room. (And all options we look at will be honed…always honed!).

Why does building a beautiful home take so long?

Because the finished space is only the final layer.

Long before the plaster, stone, cabinetry and furnishings arrive, hundreds of decisions are being made inside the walls—aligning openings, refining proportions, planning sightlines and making sure every trade’s work supports the next.

Many of the most important details in a home will eventually disappear from view. But they are often the reason the finished space feels considered, balanced and enduring.

This is #TheParkHouseMontecito, still very much in progress.

There are places that entertain you, and then there are places that quietly change the way you see.

Venice is one of them.

To walk these narrow streets with our boys, tracing our hands across centuries-old stone, looking up at weathered facades, carved capitals, worn marble, and impossibly beautiful details… it’s a reminder that true craftsmanship only becomes more meaningful with time.

It’s almost unbelievable that a city like this still exists. A place where the architecture, the light, the canals, and the rhythm of daily life feel suspended in another era. Like stepping into a living time capsule.

Trips like these fill more than a camera roll. They fill the creative well. They remind us why we care so deeply about thoughtful design, old materials, quiet details, and homes that tell stories long after we’re gone.

The greatest inspiration has always been found in places that have stood the test of time.
