POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🇵🇭✨ It’s Filipino American History Month! When you really think about it… it’s pretty amazing that so many of us grew up navigating more than ONE language. For many of us, English isn’t necessarily the only language filling our homes. ❤️

I grew up in a bilingual household speaking English first, but understanding Tagalog 100%. 🇵🇭 As a kid, I was actually embarrassed that we spoke another language at home because I wanted to fit in... and didn’t yet understand what a gift it was.

Then came Spanish. 🇪🇸 I started learning it in school and loved it enough to eventually minor in Spanish in college.

And during COVID (because apparently I needed another hobby 😂), I challenged myself to learn Portuguese so I could better communicate with our Brazilian patients at work. 🇧🇷

So here I am today— able to speak and/or understand FOUR languages to varying degrees: English. Tagalog. Spanish. Portuguese. 🤯

Standing alongside my Filipina friends makes me think about how many of us have similar stories— moving between languages, cultures and communities without even realizing how special that ability is. 🥹🇵🇭

The thing I was once ashamed of as a child has become something I’m incredibly proud of as an adult. Funny how growing up can turn the things that once made us feel different into the very things that make us appreciate who we are. Happy FAHM!❤️

Made a special banner for a special lady! I was in charge of decorations for my mom’s little get together so of course a banner had to be a part of it! I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving to be celebrated and I am so grateful to have a best friend/mom in one 🥰

For those wondering where I get my creative side from, well…. “I got it from my mama” 🤪

“But once in a while the odd thing happens,
Once in a while the dream comes true,
And the whole pattern of life is altered,
Once in a while the moon turns blue.”

- W.H. Auden

California was nothing short of amazing.

Amazing event. Amazing people.
I wish I could share what I experienced to the whole world.

And maybe I will.

I’m just getting started.

Oh, the whirlwind of challenges and of adventure.
This 3rd Quarter felt like I lived several lifetimes.

Photo dump before the Holidays, before all these memories are buried on drafts again.

Thank you to all friends who’s been part of this ride. Let’s finish the year stronger and happier than ever. ✨
