Hi Huskies! 🐾 My name is Isa Montejano and i’ll be taking over for this week :)

I am currently a senior majoring in psychology with minors in marketing and latino studies! I am still thinking about plans after graduation but my current goals are to work for non profits advocating for higher education accessibility, mental health and/or voter rights in the latino community. I also plan on getting my masters in public policy to pursue my end goal of working in politics to continue my advocacy! 👩🏻‍💼

My biggest why to choosing NIU would be the affordability and its resources for first generation students! College can be scary, academically and financially but NIU has made it easy to navigate and has helped me also find my community here which is super important to me. ♥️

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲❤️

Isa Montejano, a Junior majoring in Psychology with minors in marketing and Latin American and Latino Studies, and a proud member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., said that she went Greek because…

“Before coming to NIU, I knew little to nothing about what Greek life was but I knew that I wanted to find my home away from home and a community that would help me grow not just during my time here, but beyond. After meeting the sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha, I felt an instant connection. I could tell these were ladies who inspire and challenge one another to grow, lead, and reach their full potential. Through Lambda Theta Alpha, I found a space where I could step out of my shell, discover who I truly am, and continue blossoming into the lady I aspire to be. What truly drew me in was the organization’s deep connection to culture, empowerment, and political awareness. I wanted to be part of a sisterhood that not only celebrates our roots, but also encourages us to use our voices for change and stand for our communities. Lambda Theta Alpha has given me the opportunity to develop into a stronger leader, embrace my identity, and make a meaningful impact both on and off campus.”
