A sweet little evening celebrating The Hadean 🌙📚✨

A cosy launch and reading gathering where @ishanikuwar shared the world of her illustrations, and @aditya_271006 spoke about the writing and making of the story. It was an evening filled with stories, art, conversations, and the warmth of being together.

A big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came and made the evening so special, and to @sandboxcollective for welcoming us in and making us feel right at home. 🤎

Some stories are made even more special by the people we get to share them with. This was one of those evenings. ✨

They met during the BoE Fellowship.

One came from design. The other from classrooms.

Together, they started building Murmurations - a flexible furniture system designed to help classrooms move, adapt and come alive.

Because sometimes, education innovation starts with rethinking the space children learn in.

If you’re a school or learning space interested in collaborating or testing the prototype, reach out to Ishani and Stefan.

And if you’re someone looking to build in education too,
Cohort 6 applications are now open.

DEMOCRATISING DESIGN
Here’s a D-I-Y (Design It Yourself) manual that folds into a palm sized handbook - with 9 simple design steps to create your own creche even in a small room. Now available for download in Hindi and English on our website’s #OpenSource section (link in bio)

Developed in collaboration with @sewa.bharat @ishanikuwar and supported by @rearc.institute to adapt child-friendly design strategies to 150 homes in rural Bihar and enable “care-preneur” women to run their own creches, creating livelihoods and bringing access to education, health and nutrition to children below 6 years of age.

For those who are not too comfortable writing or drawing, we came up with simple stencils and shapes that they found much easier to trace around. 150 designs by 150 women who are building their own creches with their own hands :)

Design & construction is just half of our work. The other half is its dissemination at different levels - local communities, policymakers & architectural fraternity. That is why all our work is #OpenSource to be able to design for impact over time and in different contexts that they can be adapted to.

Here’s a short flyer-booklet on some of the design strategies used in Delhi’s first Anganwadi-cum-Creche designed by our studio as a pilot project with the Dept of Women and Child Development & @mobilecreches under the Palna scheme.

These design strategies are simple retrofit techniques translating pedagogy into architecture that can be adapted to 500 other crèches announced under the scheme across Delhi. It’s a key step in developing a blueprint for our ongoing project “Banao: Building Better Anganwadis” supported by @rearc.institute

You can download the PDF from the Open Source page of our website. Link in bio.
