Kendalle Getty has turned the storefront of ITEM IDEM in Paris into a mirrored stage for identity, self-image and performance in L’identification avec l’autre.

Opened during Art Basel Paris Week, the exhibition takes the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles as a starting point, bringing together sculptural self-portraits, engraved mirrors and altered domestic objects.

Across the installation, Getty looks at how identity is shaped by social media, fashion, beauty standards, inherited privilege and public image-making, while the storefront setting blurs the line between exhibition, display and commodity.

Now on view at ITEM IDEM, Paris, until 14th November 2026.

I filmed this in the wee hours of Monday morning. I felt the opposite way not twelve hours later but I’m BACK! I’m SO PROUD of what I have pulled together despite countless obstacles and snotty, mean haters criticizing my work ethic while they sit around doing nothing! I love myself. I’m so proud of myself and so, so happy and nothing can take THAT from me.

My show 𝐿’𝒾𝒹𝑒𝓃𝓉𝒾𝒻𝒾𝒸𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝒶𝓋𝑒𝒸 𝓁’𝒶𝓊𝓉𝓇𝑒 (Identification with the Other) is presented by ITEM IDEM and opens tomorrow, October 14 6–9 PM at ITEM IDEM, 12 Rue Bleue 75009 Paris 🇫🇷

Transform the uploaded photo into a cinematic real-life and anime fusion scene. Keep the main subject completely recognizable, preserving their original face, hairstyle, body proportions, clothing, accessories, pose, and overall appearance. Add a small full-body anime version of the same person standing naturally behind them, wearing the exact same outfit and matching the hairstyle and colors. Give the anime character a polished modern anime design with crisp linework, expressive eyes, subtle cel shading, and slightly exaggerated proportions. The anime character should hold a powerful flashlight directed toward the real subject's back. Create an intense realistic white light beam with strong illumination, soft atmospheric glow, bright edge lighting, realistic shadows, and subtle light particles. Slightly darken the surrounding environment to emphasize the flashlight while maintaining the original sunset/outdoor atmosphere. Preserve the original background, camera perspective, framing, composition, and photographic realism. Make the anime character feel naturally integrated into the environment with accurate contact shadows and lighting interaction. Create a highly detailed, cinematic, realistic-looking final image with a seamless anime-meets-photography effect.
