POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The Case for ReUse is officially LIVE. 🎬✨ This short documentary explores the systemic impact of @ithacareuse in Tompkins County — moving beyond powerful waste diversion to examine the human engine driving the mission: workforce development, apprenticeships, the ReMAP program, and building authentic community belonging. While we’re excited to share this film, it’s far more than a single release. This project marks the launch of an ongoing media storytelling partnership between MACRE and Finger Lakes ReUse. Grounded in community media models, we’re moving away from transactional production to build a permanent, collective media infrastructure — making videos with and for local organizations, not just about them. 👉 Head to the Substack link in our bio to watch the full movie and read the full story on where this project is headed! Produced in collaboration with @psp_ny and MACRE. Supported under a grant by the RUS, USDA. Finger Lakes ReUse, Inc. is an equal opportunity provider and employer. #TheCaseForReUse #CommunityMedia #FingerLakesReUse #IthacaNY #ParticipatoryMedia

Join So What? Studio @ MACRE Ithaca on Sunday, October 11th for an opportunity to be amongst others and show support for one another. Sitting with heavy feelings does not need to happen in isolation and we invite you to come out to create art as a way of processing. This is a welcoming space for everyone and you’re invited to join as you are. Bring a friend, bring a grandparent, bring an instrument to contribute to this creative healing space, but most importantly, know that this is a judgment free space that will focus on the act of creating as a path to healing and resistance. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11TH MACRE Ithaca - 415 N Tioga St 3pm FREE #ithaca #ithacany #ithacaevents #ithacaart #ithacaartists So What? Studio was built upon the belief that liberation can come from creation, imagination, and conversation. In whatever hellscape timeline we are existing in right now, art making (in any form) is an act of resistance (and always has been). The act of creating anything is an opportunity to express a part of yourself that maybe conventional conversation is not able to capture. The privilege of witnessing someone create is an opportunity to connect with a part of someone’s heart and soul. Creating and witnessing - ohmygosh - isn’t that so fucking beautiful? Isn’t that what it’s all about? For me, this is what So What? Studio is about. Creating opportunities for people to come together to create, play, and witness. Art = connection = survival Materials will be provided but please feel free to bring anything you’d like to share. Some helpful items include: -Craft items (string, beads, stickers, scissors, staplers, tape, etc.) -Drawing tools (pencils, markers, sharpies, crayons, pastels, etc.) -Paint things (paint, brushes, plates or lids for palettes, containers for water, etc.) -Surfaces (cardboard, paper of various sizes, construction paper, cardstock, newsprint, magazines, etc.) -Sticks, posts, etc. for signs If you are an artist, educator, organization, or business, and would like to help out in any capacity, please reach out to me directly: hello@sowhatsocialclub.com or DM me here. Ideas include: - snacks! - activities to keep tiny humans engaged! -

There is a subset of us who leave the ReUse tags on our purchases. It has been coming up in conversations lately. Are you with us? Most recent example modeled by my 11 yo. who enjoys the hang tag. @ithacareuse #ThinkReUseFirst

Today and Tomorrow I am at the Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival in the kid zone, giving away FREE Stuffies (aka plush toys) as part of the Stuffy Wellness Center Project at FCCI. It is a lot of work but this project ensures that plush toys stay out of the landfills and keep hearts happy! Today's favorites include Fifi and Fufu (a pair of crabs) and Little Timmy (a big frog). Extra bonus to be doing this on Give Like Dolly Day!! #givelikedolly #stuffywellness

Recently in Ithaca we celebrated the new Finger Lakes ReUse location in Lansing! Not only is shopping second-hand more affordable, it is also more sustainable. I’m looking forward to seeing what this new ReUse location has to offer.

🌿 New Reuse Partner Alert! 🌿 We’re excited to welcome the Library of Things to our BYO program! Look for our Circular Economy sticker. What does this mean? ✅ Circular Economy: The Library of Things supports zero waste by making useful items available to borrow instead of buy. From technology and tools to sewing machines, puzzles, board games, and passes, borrowing helps people save money, save space, and avoid purchasing things they may only need once in a while. Check out 100+ participating businesses here: https://buff.ly/3ExBgfu Sharing and borrowing resources is a simple way to reduce unnecessary consumption, extend the usefulness of existing items, and make everyday tools and experiences more accessible to the community. 💚 A big thank you to the Library of Things for continuing their partnership with ZWI’s Reuse Business Network! ✨ Haven’t checked out the Library of Things yet? The Library of Things offers a wide variety of items that community members can borrow, including hotspots, portable DVD players, sewing machines, puzzles, board games, tools, fishing equipment, kites, telescope kits, and even Empire and Sciencenter passes. Some of the most popular items are NYS park pass, sewing machines, puzzles, and games, which can be expensive to buy or take up extra space at home. The tool collection also gives people the chance to repair and improve things they already own instead of replacing them. Whether you need a drill for a quick repair, want to try a new board game, or are planning a family outing, the Library of Things makes it easier to access what you need without having to own it. Why buy when you can borrow? Stop by, explore the collection, and support a local resource helping make Ithaca’s circular economy possible! #ZeroWaste #ReduceReuse #Reuse #BorrowDontBuy #IthacaNY

Makerspace Jumpstart year 2 was a success! We had so much fun introducing 15 first-year students to the IC Makerspace, the Ithaca ReUse Center, and a few other spots downtown during a creative-reuse-themed day. We built and fully-stocked the new Ithaca College Keychain Library, a place to find unique keychains that were made in the makerspace from mostly reused trinkets and odd objects! Come check it out, grab a new keychain, and drop off any unused trinkets or stuff that you think could be keychain-ified. 🪀🐤🪏🍄🦎🖍️🎱 Many thanks to the @ithacareuse, @sewgreenithaca, and @fresh_marche_607 to having us ❤️
