First, a special thank you to Adreiona, Jay-R, Paul, and KB for being part of this journey. Jay-r, “LET THE DOGS EAT!” will forever be iconic. 😭

To Peace Runners, Jackie, Camille, Tyler, and the entire squad—thank you for the love, encouragement, and energy.

To my mama, thank you for getting me where I needed to be, supporting this dream, and showing up for me. And to all my siblings, thank you for cheering me on and being part of this moment. To everyone who supported me along the way, THANK YOU. Y'all made this experience even more special.

I still remember telling Jackie after my first 5K that I didn't know if a marathon was for me. And here I am, two years later, at 17, a MARATHONER.

Between boxing, flag football, working, coaching, and trying to show up for the people I care about, making room for running wasn't always easy. But I kept going.

This marathon was more than a race. It was a victory lap celebrating all 17 years of my life—who I am, everything I've overcome, and all the life I still have ahead of me. Every mile was a celebration. And getting to share this experience with Adreiona and Lexi, finding our way back to each other along the course, made it even more special. 🥹

Black and Brown girls and women belong out here, too. We deserve to see ourselves in these spaces, take up room, and discover what we're capable of. Training matters. Preparation matters. But believing in yourself matters, too. I'm my own biggest fan, and I'll always go hard for the things I love.

This is one of the biggest things I've ever done, and I can't wait to see what's next. 👀🥊 Hopefully, I'll be back in the ring October 25th, so stay tuned!

It’s Medal Monday! @chimarathon is Finished ‼️ Two medals, Marathon Finisher and Distance Series Finisher (Shamrock Shuffle - 8K, Half Marathon -13.1 Miles, & Marathon -26.2 Miles). Two years in a row I got both medals! 🏆🏃🏽‍♀️💪🏾

I listened to praise & worship music the whole race because it’s only me and God out there pushing past fears, anxiety, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, grief, physical pain and proving to myself that I can do hard things, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” Phil. 4:13 🙏🏾. We are victorious together!

It was such a vibe out there this year! The sun was shining hot and bright 🌞 and Chicago neighborhoods were electrified with music and cheers and signs and love for the runners. 👏🏾🎉 @iitoldlexi ran her first marathon and caught up to me around mile 15 and passed me kindly and stopped for a photo. 🤣 Friends @travelingblackwidow and @doc.lizvi were there at mile 15 too with the cheer sign of my face and much needed pain cream for that strained thigh muscle that happened at mile 4 😘, @livelisadst lifted my spirt at mile 20 with the Delta Sigma Theta, Inc Soror Shout Out to get me re-charged at the 20 mile “wall” 🫶🏽, sons @gpeebles_ and @jpeebs_ were at miles 21 and 23 respectively with a smile, and encouraging words to keep going as I’m almost done ❤️, and love from them and friend @kimneely1 plus other friends at the end...amazing! Plus the encouragement I received from my family and friends via text messages while running kept me focused that I can do this…so much needed & appreciated. Much love to all of you!! 💯❤️😘

Legs are sore, heart is full, mind is settled. We did THAT! Well, it’s a wrap for this year…next year?!?! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🫶🏽🤣😘
