California Dreamin’ 🌅

What an adventure the past month has been - during our brief layoff at the end of August, @just_spool and I drove my trusty steed, Tomato, from Texas to California to start the next leg of the tour, with a mini vacation stop in San Diego to see Phantom of the Opera!

Then we had an amazing 3-week sit at the Pantages in LA, with days filled with sightseeing, beach bumming, epic SoCal food, and riding Lime scooters down Sunset Boulevard.

Yesterday we made the 14-hour drive to Portland; we open tonight at the Keller Auditorium!

Shout-out to my poor car, which has accrued almost 40k miles in 16 months. She’s been as far northeast as Bar Harbor, ME; southwest as San Diego, and now has made her PNW debut. 🤣

I’m a few days late, but WFE opening at The Pantages in LA! What a dream to play in such a beautiful and historic theater - we’re here til the 27th if you happen to be in town!

As we remember the lives lost in 9/11, 25 years ago today, we honor and uplift the many humans that fought and sacrificed to help in every aspect of the aftermath. Those that lost their lives fighting to save others, those that worked to keep the hope alive for so many. We will never forget those lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks both in the sky and on the ground.

We're also reminded of a time that people truly came together. Our hope is that it doesn't take a horrendous event to remind us that we are all human and need to share this beautiful planet. Spencer Inch was a podcast guest in our first season and speaks about sharing the story of those in Newfoundland, where 38 planes were rerouted while the US airspace was closed. While we remember the terror, let us also remember the people from everywhere that came together in an incredibly dark and hard time.

@jimbogios of @countingcrows broke into my dressing room during my set and found exactly the outfit he needed to welcome him into a life of queer fabulousness. He was playing Mr. Jones like 20 mins later.

OH AND THE MIC WAS LIVE.

Thanks for sending the memory, @candyman60477. This was the best time of my life.

New episode of Broadway Drumming 101 is here. Episode #108 with Spencer Inch, currently touring with Water for Elephants, formerly on Come From Away.

We talked about:

The teacher who shaped how he reads a chart before he ever set foot on Broadway

What cruise ships teach you that school never will

The random connection that opened his first door into New York theater

His story isn’t about talent. It’s about relationships, saying yes, and treating every gig like it matters.

Midwest summer! (Plus Hartford)

Just finished another amazing leg with @w4emusical // @benzinis_traveling_band. I drove back from Chicago to Rhode Island yesterday, and on Wednesday I start another year as guest faculty for @berkleecollege’s 5-Week and Guitar Sessions programs before rejoining the tour in San Diego in August!

What a wild ride it’s been - the music life never ceases to amaze me, and I’m so grateful I get to continue living this dream. 🎸

PS: Stay tuned for the gig list — you know I couldn’t come home without fitting in as many as possible!

Aren't we lucky?!

My last tour stop with W4E = best tour stop. Chi-Town was full of so much love, laughter, fun, dancing, (tequila), ventures of life, and memories that will last a lifetime.

To my fellow elephants, you have my full heart! Thanks for giving me the greatest chapter of the past year. Forever choosing the ride!❤️🎪

Life's a party, so until the next chapter💚😉
