Visual Storytelling : THE PLACES WE NEED 🌍

Funny how life works sometimes.

I had only recently heard about the Africa Centre. I remember thinking I should go visit, learn more about it, see what happens there. I didn’t know that my first time attending one of their events would be a fundraiser and that I would arrive to learn that this place I had just discovered might not be here for much longer.

~

I’m African, from Cameroon. I immigrated to France when I was very young, and later moved to London on my own as a young adult. Growing up between countries, I slowly lost touch with parts of my culture. Not because I stopped caring, but because sometimes when you’re far away from where you come from, you don’t even realise what you’re missing.

~

And I’ve come to understand that reconnecting with your culture isn’t always something you can do by yourself.

~

Sometimes you need a place.
You need people.
You need music, art, stories, language, food, poetry. You need to be surrounded by people who understand that feeling of belonging to somewhere you may not have fully grown up in.

That’s what spaces like the Africa Centre mean to me.

~

Parfois, on a besoin d’un endroit.

Tree Tales Team Leads Out and about. Around 390 million years ago, trees came to be. Humans appeared around 300,000 years ago. It is little wonder that trees stand at the heart of mythologies across the world.

🌿 Tree Tales out and about. (Tree hugs included.) 💚

How might their tales guide us towards a deeper, more meaningful connection with the natural world?
