Not the race I wanted, but the race I needed 🏔️

70 miles done at the @officialmilestoneevents Rocky Mountain Challenge. Not the 100 (or 107) miles I had hoped for but proud of every mile I earned out there! There is something truly special about ultra running and the people who choose to endure challenges and push themselves to see what they can do. When you’re on the trail, it doesn’t matter who you are in your daily life. We are all equal in suffering and I’ve found during these races you find your people and your people find you. It was so great getting in some trail miles with @jessiezapo and loved all the conversations we had about the running world and life!

Cannot thank @officialmilestoneevents for bringing @itsjessrunning and @kristenrunswild into my life at their first event two years ago. Now we’re all three permanently stuck with each other.

Not the race I wanted but the race I needed. Sometimes you don’t realize how badly you needed to do something until it’s over. I’ll never get tired of this amazing thing we all do called running!

When you complete your Milestone Challenge, your final stamp is GOLD. Good job Jess! Good job Kristen! There are less than 17 hours remaining, some new PRs have been set. The challenge continues for the next Milestone.

If you like week-long vacations. RUN-cations! Maybe volunteering with Milestone Events might be for you. Past events have been at Zion, Redwoods, and the Rocky Mountains. Like all the runners and volunteers, all the venues are unique and amazing. Keep on the lookout for the next event!

Day 3 of The Great Adventure 🫶

We made it to Snow Mountain Ranch after a 2ish hour drive through some of the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen.
We checked in, unloaded ALL the gear and did a little shakeout walk to scope out the place.
It’s GORGEOUS!
After that it was just a matter of time before friend after friend ( after friend!) walked through the doors of the main cabin race headquarters and it was almost like Christmas morning!
There isn’t a way to describe quite how that felt, so I’ll just tell you it was an absolutely fantastic feeling to see so many beautiful, familiar faces.
And I met some new friends, too. 😊
There were hugs and laughs, pep talks, a race briefing, and dinner. I sobbed like a baby when I saw the gift @authentic_perspective13 and his beautiful wife had made for me. ( pic 2🥹)
It’s been a day.
A good day.
An emotional day. I miss my family. I miss Austin.
But I know this is where I need to be right now.
So here I am.
I’m all prepped and ready to try to get 100 miles by Saturday at 5pm.
I almost talked myself out of toeing this start line.
But nope, not this time.
This is going to be an adventure
Thank you for being here for whatever happens out there. 🫶

Nothing like the nervous excitement of a new training block!

15 weeks to go until my next big race! A 100 miler with @officialmilestoneevents in the Rockies! Gonna be a fun summer full of training and alot of miles! Can’t wait to run 100 miles with @kristenrunswild and @itsjessrunning in August!

Another 100 Miler Comin’ Up!

Starting to get back into training for my next 100 miler coming up August 19th in Granby, CO! Excited to get Rocky Mountain High!

Going to be focusing on 3 main things during this training block:
1) VERT: going to aim for at least 5,000ft of gain every week which isn’t hard to do with all the hills in north GA!
2) High Mileage: just depending on what my week calls for, I’m going to be getting in anywhere from 40-70 miles a week. I am sure a few recovery weeks will be under 40
3) Strength Training: ahhh yes, a runners favorite thing… I was more consistent going to the gym leading up to my last 100 miler and it paid off… so the plan is 2-3 times a week, with a focus on lower body, obviously

Gonna be a fun summer!! And can’t wait to be reunited with @kristenrunswild and @itsjessrunning in August when we all get to run 100 miles together again!
