A few lines that stayed with us - about presence, pressure, and the parts of yourself you don’t always show, but still find a way into the work.

Bare Maximum Newsletter 097 with Olootu

Olootu, better known as OOO, has learned the importance of fluidity while navigating the African creative space. Artist, DJ, and creative director at WAF, he plays many roles without letting one voice overshadow the other. The Bayelsa State native has come a long way in his journey, finding love for music through interactions with his uncle’s records and now creating his own carefully curated musical experiences. OOO treats music as something he lives and breathes, while seeking mastery in his other endeavours.

In this Bare Max interview, OOO steps beyond these imposed labels to reveal the vulnerability at the core of his craft. In his music, he sways between love-soaked melodies and razor-sharp rap, his DJ sets pulse with intention, and his direction at WAF proves he’s as much a cultural architect as he is a performer. Authenticity is the only thing he knows. He is building community and rising steadily as a creative force impossible to ignore.

This issue is brought to you in collaboration with Now & Forever Media.
