October 4-11 is National Amputee Awareness Week 💚🦿💪🏼

Amputation can be a life-saving procedure and may be necessary following trauma, cancer, disease or serious infection. While it can save a life, it also means adjusting to permanent limb loss and the physical, emotional and everyday challenges that can come with it.

This week is an opportunity to recognise the experiences of people living with limb loss - including the challenges that may not always be visible - while celebrating their strength, resilience and determination.

Here at Engage, we’re proud to recognise, support and celebrate the amputee community, while continuing to champion inclusion, accessibility and opportunities for people to participate, achieve their goals and live life their way 💚

ON THIS WEEKS EPISODE.. 🎙️

In this crossover with 10 Ninety - Mason, Sarah, and Megan sit down with Holly O’Malley, who grew up as “Summer’s little sister” in a town that never forgot a fatal car accident. Holly talks about Sundays at the cemetery, losing her mum at 11, watching her dad slowly pass from brain cancer, and what it does to your sense of self when grief is all you’ve ever known.

This episode is blunt, darkly funny at times, and painfully honest about not wanting to be here—and staying anyway.

ON THIS WEEKS EPISODE.. 🎤

Some stories are difficult to hear.

Some stories are impossible to imagine.

And some stories remind you just how fragile, precious and unpredictable life can be.

Tomorrow, we are joined all the way from the USA by Mason Sawyer from 10ninety Podcast, who shares one of the most heartbreaking stories we have ever had the privilege of hearing.

In 2021, Mason lost his wife, two of his three children, his brother and his nephew in a devastating car accident.

Five people from one family. Gone in an instant.

Mason opens up about grief, unimaginable loss, finding a way to keep going, and what life looks like when the people you love most are suddenly no longer there.

This is not an episode about having all the answers.

It’s about listening to someone who has lived through something most of us can barely comprehend.

We are incredibly grateful to Mason for trusting us with his story and for sharing it with such honesty, vulnerability and courage.

Episode drops tomorrow at 6am.

If you listen, take your time with this one.
And perhaps, when it’s finished, hold your people a little closer. 🤍

Steph + Megs ✨

This was such a special afternoon. A session where it just flowed from the get go and I could capture these two naturally together with some silliness and all the love between them. So much love and light!

Celebrating marrying the love of her life, a week later a horrific accident leaving her an amputee.

This week’s guest episode will change the way you think, feel and experience your life’s challenges.

Meet Meg. Meg is a resilient wife, mum and survivor from the Hunter Valley whose life was turned upside down in a single moment.

While cutting the grass on the nature strip outside her home, a ride-on mower slipped down an embankment and rolled directly over her foot and lower leg.

In this episode, Meg opens up about the accident, the fight to recover, and the way it has reshaped her perspective on family, strength, and what truly matters.

Her story is raw, courageous, and a reminder of how quickly life can change — and how resilience, love, and community carry us through.

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussion of a traumatic accident, including the loss of a limb, blood, and medical trauma. Please take care while listening.

Listen or watch now.
