last fall, i had the pleasure of working on a new SAPPHIC DATING SHOW, drawing blackboards, taking bts photos, filming videos.

i made many new friends during our very complicated and emotional week in chiang mai, despite crying multiple days under stress (but also including good cries when i wandered into a temple fair and got fed by locals, and when p mod the location guide quietly got me many vitamin c drinks).

I FILMED A DATING SHOW IN CHIANG MAI!!!

These past two weeks have been the most visceral chapters of my life. 🫧

To be part of a Chinese queer production, to be with so many queer women who share the same cultural roots and personal journeys was surreal. For me, this experience has hugely normalized women loving women in this patriarchal, heterosexual-dominated society.

Back in the day, I questioned whether I might be a queer. “I don’t desire a woman the way I desire a man. It’s impossible that I could like a girl in ‘that’ way,” I told my friends.

I thought that self-objectifying relationships with men were how it was supposed to be.

Until three years ago, when I fell in love with a girl, I was terrified. The pre-programmed homophobia in me made me deny and hate this part of myself for a long time.

But then I got to see and experience the tenderness, the care, the unspoken connections—the bond we commonly share with women, romantic or not.

Nuanced, intertwined.
We all carry different stories. And at the core of it all are our hearts — what brought us together in the first place: to empower and to bloom.

For that, as a community member, I am eternally grateful.
