October is here, and so is this month’s edition of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 ✨ A collaborative feature celebrating the incredible women shaping the street art scene, where we come together to tell their stories: 📝 We at @moniker.art step behind the mic as female interviewers 📸 Our brilliant friend and photographer @hannah.judah captures some of the world’s most incredible walls through her lens 🎨 And together, we shine a spotlight on outstanding female street artists whose work deserves to be given centre stage. Let’s get into it with proud Londoner @itsrosiewoods ♥️♥️♥️ #womeninart #femalestreetartist #creativewomenclub #streetartuk #girlpower ❓You began with fine art and eventually found yourself working on large walls with spray paint. What did the scale and physicality of mural painting unlock in you that a canvas couldn’t? 🗣️I’ve always been drawn to big experiences: climbing mountains, endurance events, travelling to wild places. I suppose painting walls is an extension of that appetite to experience the world at the edge of my comfort zone. It gives me a sense of adventure that I don’t quite get in the studio. 🗣️🗣️The physicality and adrenaline of painting big walls unlock a level of focus in me that I’ve never quite replicated on canvas. Perhaps it’s because all my senses are fully engaged. With so many variables to respond to, there’s less room for my mind to wander, and I can easily slip into a flow state. It’s still such a buzz, even on the hard days. It’s addictive! ❓Hannah got some beautiful shots in this set of your first entirely brush-painted mural. Talk us through this change of medium. 🗣️I’m pregnant! My first baby is due at the end of October, and if you look closely at the mural, you’ll see a subtle nod to this. 🗣️🗣️I’ve been deliberately moving away from spray paint over the last few years, knowing I’d like to start a family and wanting to be more conscious of the materials I work with. I adore spray paint, but I’ve become increasingly aware of its environmental impact and my own exposure to it. I love this planet and my body, and I want to look after both! 🗣️🗣️🗣️I’ve been using a paint gun for t

How do you get hired specifically for your art style? Do bigger clients actually give artist more creative freedom? How do you build a portfolio for the work you really want? How do you know if your art isn’t resonating, or if you just haven’t found the right audience yet? I sat down with the amazing @itsrosiewoods to discuss it all and more! The episode is out today on Spotify: As The Paint Dries Rosie Woods: Getting Hired For Your Style

“Gold” by Rosie Woods Painted in Old Street, London in 2024, @itsrosiewoods describes this piece as her first exploration into the gold style that has since become a defining part of her work. Metallic drapery, reflective forms, and human figures seem to lift away from the wall, giving the piece an almost sculptural quality. Woods has described this mural as one of those rare moments where the idea came naturally, without overthinking the process. Big thank you to @jeremy_sharp321 for the collab with Street Art Collective and sharing his photography. 🎨 Artist: @itsrosiewoods 📸 Photography: @jeremy_sharp321 📍 Old Street, London, UK 🗓️ 2024 Discover the art of the streets. There has been so much happening behind the scenes in the studio and it’s had me reflecting back on the last 12 years… I’ve grown so much, and yet I feel like I’m just getting started! So grateful to young Soph for quitting Uni, taking the risks and pushing though the uncertain times. I have some big projects in the pipeline and I’m creating more than ever - if you’d like to stay in the loop and hear more stories like this I’d love to invite you to join my newsletter - link in bio. Thanks for being on this journey with me 🫶😊 📸 thanks @adambrazier for the first pic!! 🫶🙏

@itsrosiewoods at @shoreditchth (LONDON) Known for her series exploring the « Hyper Gold » aesthetic, the artist plays here with *trompe-l’œil* effects and light reflections that make the spray paint resemble liquid gold fabric or cast sculptures. About the artist: Rosie Woods, a British fine arts graduate now based in Australia, showcases her talent worldwide, leaving her artistic mark across various continents. Inspired by abstract realism, she expresses her creativity through spray paint, creating captivating murals. Her works feature photorealistic depictions of still lifes, animals, and human portraits, all enveloped in sweeping, dizzying curves. #schoreditchartwall #schoreditchstreetart #ilovelondon❤️ #streetartlondon
