No family should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley launched The Store after visiting a free supermarket in California and recognizing the value of giving their kids a broader perspective on the world around them.

For me, volunteering here wasn’t a campaign stop. Moving my hands and feet in productive service keeps me connected to the everyday realities of my neighbors and reminds me why this work matters.

I’ve had countless conversations about food insecurity and rising grocery costs this year, but at The Store, I got to see a different and deeply dignified approach to addressing hunger in action.

Their model gives families something that can too often get lost in our food distribution systems: Choice and agency.

We can do better for Tennessee families. Meeting people’s needs shouldn’t mean taking away their dignity and The Store is showing us what it can look like to do both.

I felt sad today after listening to the news. I started cataloguing all the things that have gone wrong recently, and all that could wrong in the future. I felt heartbroken over all the people suffering and all those living in fear. I was grieving all the people we’ve lost, and all the natural disasters, the things changing that feel unfamiliar and beyond my control. Then I went to my shift at @thestore_nashville and worked my butt off for five hours with my dear friends @iveychilders and @mdoolittle. We packaged crackers, checked out customers, counted produce. We unboxed and restocked cereal, diapers, and fruit pouches. We talked and laughed and even danced with customers. We learned about what they were planning on cooking this weekend and exactly how they planned to do it, using just the right herbs or just the right hot sauce. My anxiety started to lift, giving way to laughter, and a huge feeling of accomplishment. We helped 111 families get groceries today at our Centennial location. I left feeling grounded, centered, and SO GRATEFUL. If you’re in Nashville, come join us sometime. If you’re not, go do some good in your community where you are. Love the people in front of you. It’s the best antidote I’ve found to overwhelm, fear, or hopelessness. We all need community. 💚💚💚💚

The FOOD + DRINK menu from The Sunday Swap Garden Dinner 🍽️

I try to shake things up a bit and be different from my previous garden parties. But one thing I’ve been consistent on is the use of the food I grow in the garden. I try to incorporate everything I can in every course.
And the dessert …the Lemon Cheesecake Mousse I made the 1st year at the Little Pond Garden dinner was a smash hit - all the girls asked me for the recipe & are still talking about it years later. So the following year I made it again but with Key Lime & again…a smash! So I wanted to do it again but this time with one of my favorite fruits…Grapefruit! And omg! It was SO DAHLicious ☺️!

🎶 I want a house with a crowded table 🤌🏼 part 2
A Sunday Swap that started at 5pm and lasted until after midnight. A garden dinner under the grape vines, pergola & party lights. We prayed, laughed, cried & arm wrestled over butter haha we all bonded and had a beautiful time.
It was truly special. I will never get over this one …

🌽 Calling all my crafty, home growin’, hand makin’ girls! This is your sign to throw a FRIENDS FARMERS MARKET “SUNDAY SWAP” party! Perfect way to close out summer! Call all your crafty farmers & get the best group of girls together for the most fun ever! This was actually one of my favorite events I’ve ever thrown.

I was in awe of these girls and their talents they brought to the table! I knew when I had to fill 10 seats for the Garden dinner /farmers market I was going to ask my girls that love farming & homemaking as much as I do. They did not disappoint! Half of them have working farms themselves. It was a treat to see these boss babes in action! Can’t wait to host another one! Maybe the fall? 🧑‍🌾

So thankful for this amazing summer. ☀️

I bought a house, spent time with the loves of my life (my kids & my best friends), visited Naples, FL, for the first time, danced with @wonderfromdownunda (my godson), celebrated our Blythe Speer, and enjoyed Ivey’s gluten-free pizza and her @drinksouthbound margaritas!

So much goodness.
Back to school for me on Tuesday. 📝
