Injured doesn’t always mean you have to stop training.

Jeff showed up in style (purple cast) to train and that’s a great reminder that fitness isn’t all-or-nothing.

When an injury limits what you can do, the goal is to adapt your training around it. Not ignore the injury or push through something you shouldn’t.

🧠 The science: A 2026 meta-analysis found that training the uninjured arm can help reduce strength loss in the immobilized arm through a phenomenon called cross-education. <Cite refs={[“turn290081search1”,“turn290081search3”]}/>

The takeaway? You may not be able to train everything, but there may still be ways to maintain strength, stay active, and keep your routine going.

Every injury is different, so work within your medical guidance and adapt accordingly.

Train what you can. Respect what you can’t. Keep moving forward.

The key to long-term results? Playing the long game.

Here are two ways we’ve seen people stay consistent:

📅 Schedule your workouts. Stop leaving it up to chance. Make time for your health like you would any other priority.

🤝 Surround yourself with support. Find a community, friends, or family who encourage you to keep showing up.

You don’t need to be motivated every day. You need a plan and the right people in your corner.

Here’s a move I give a lot of my clients who want to build stronger, more developed glutes.

The tempo step-up to step-down + curtsy gives us a lot to work with:

👉 Controlled tempo keeps you working through the entire rep instead of rushing through the movement.

👉 Single-leg strength challenges your balance, knee control, and ability to produce force from one leg.

👉 The curtsy angle adds a different challenge to the hips and glutes while changing the line of movement.

And no, this one isn’t just for women.

Men can benefit from building strong, powerful glutes too.

Think of this as an accessory movement. Not your entire lower-body program.

Pair it with your big strength movements like squats, deadlifts, and hip thrusts, then use movements like this to add more targeted work.

Short on time? This is one of our favorite full-body movements at BT.

The high plank to touch looks simple, but there’s a lot happening:

💪 Upper-body strength.
Shoulders, chest, and triceps

🔥 Core stability.
Resist rotation as you lift one hand

🍑 Glute & hip stability.
Keep your hips controlled

🧠 Coordination.
Your whole body has to work together with a bonus of mobility benefits

Stay strong through the plank, control the reach, and minimize movement through your hips.

Our current favorite row in the BT community.

The seesaw row gives us a little more than your traditional row.

As you alternate sides, you’re challenging:

👉 Core stability.
Control the movement without letting your torso rotate all over the place.

👉 Upper-back strength.
Build your pulling muscles and strengthen the muscles that help control your shoulder blades.

👉 Biceps.
Because your arms still have to do their share of the work.

It’s a simple way to combine strength + stability + coordination in one movement.

And honestly… our community has been loving it.

The Y-Raise is a simple movement that deserves more attention.

Whether you do it standing or chest-supported, you’re training muscles that are often underdeveloped or under-utilized.
Especially the mid-to-lower traps.

These muscles play an important role in controlling your shoulder blades and helping create a strong foundation for shoulder movement.

You’ll also challenge the smaller muscles of the shoulder, including the rotator cuff, while practicing controlled overhead movement.

One of the biggest cues?

Think about reaching long rather than shrugging your shoulders up.

We want the shoulder blades to move with control, not everything turning into a giant shrug.

One of our favorite full-body mobility movements at BT.

Why?

Because we’re not just stretching one muscle at a time.

You’re combining mobility, control, and movement while challenging everything from your:

👉 Lats
👉 Deep core
👉 QL
👉 Hips
👉 Calves & ankles

The resistance band gives you something to work against while you move through different positions.

And that’s the goal with mobility:

Don’t just get into a position. Learn to control it.

If you’re feeling stiff, don’t always assume you need more stretching.

Sometimes you just need to move better.

If there’s a fountain of youth, we’d argue strength training is about as close as we get.

Not because it stops aging.

Because it helps you stay capable as you age.

At BT, we see it in different ways:

🦴 Adults rebuilding strength and confidence while navigating challenges like spinal stenosis.

🤰 Women training before, during, and after pregnancy. Adapting as their bodies and seasons of life change.

💪 Women continuing to build strength through menopause and beyond.

🏃‍♂️ Busy adults finally finding a routine they can stick with because they’re surrounded by a community doing it alongside them.

Different people. Different goals. Different seasons of life.

But the common thread?

Strength training. Consistency. Community.

Train for the life you’re living now. And the one you want to keep living for years to come.

One of our favorite core movements in the BT community: the half-kneeling kettlebell chop.

Why do we love it?

👉 Lower-back-friendly.
The half-kneeling position gives us a stable base and helps us focus on moving through the upper body without turning it into a lower-back movement.

👉 Functional core training.
Your core isn’t just meant to crunch. It’s there to help you control and transfer force as your body moves.

👉 Control & coordination. This is where the cue comes in:

Imagine you’re holding a glass of water on the bottom of the kettlebell. 🥛

Don’t let the bell tilt and spill the water.

Build the foundation. Master the movement. Earn the next step.

There’s a strong chance you’re doing your elbow plank wrong.

And you probably don’t need to hold it longer, here’s how to make it better.

Two simple cues:

👉 Tuck your ribcage. Avoid letting your lower back take over.

👉 Think full-body brace. Create tension from your shoulders all the way through your core and legs.

The goal isn’t to see how long you can survive in a plank.

It’s to create quality tension and control.

That means you can often spend less time holding the position while getting more out of the exercise.

Small adjustments can completely change how a movement feels.

A small deadlift cue can make a big difference.

While coaching Joel, I wanted him to create more total-body tension before initiating the pull.

Two things I cued:

👉 “Tuck your ribs” - create a stacked, braced position.
👉 Max tension through the lats - keep the bar connected to the body and control the start of the pull.

Why?

We don’t want the body to suddenly shift or “slingshot” into the movement, creating an aggressive snap off the floor.

Instead, 1. brace, 2. create tension 3. Push through feet.

The goal isn’t to make every deadlift look identical. It’s to help the lifter find a strong, controlled position that works for their body.

Small adjustments. Better awareness. More confident strength.
