Under a Haunted Moon 10.21 🌕

An Evening of Poetry & Other Hauntings

This month, we’re leaning into the darker corners of the imagination: moonlight and shadows, spells and strange things, what blooms in the dark, and whatever lingers long after we thought it was gone.

Bring your spooky poems, dress up if the spirit moves you, or simply come listen. Poems of every kind are welcome.

🎙️ Featured Poet: Manny Saints @mannysaints

Manny Saints is a Honduran-American poet born and bred in Miami, FL. He enjoys connecting neighbors and creating empathy through the power of the written word. Touching on themes such as dreams, family, mortality, history, and nature throughout his work.

Last night, Wild Bloom Society and @artprevailsproject brought our communities together in the garden 🪴 @emilysgardenus

A little cross-pollination across Broward and South Florida.

The goal has never been to build one room, but to strengthen the ecosystem by creating more opportunities for poets to move between spaces, meet one another, and share their work.

More poetry. More collaboration. More community gatherings where our humanity is celebrated.

Our September featured poet, Denzel McCausland @denzelmccausland set the tone for a night of honesty, vulnerability, and connection.

Izzi @izzimakesmusic opened and closed the evening in brass, and we ended with a group poem born from MOONSTRUCK: Monthly Moody Musings.

Thank you to everyone who joined us from near and far, and to those who sent their love.

Next Thursday, I step into their room as the featured poet at the Arts Prevails Project open mic.

Wild Bloom Poetry September Edition 🌻

In collaboration with @artprevailsproject

🎙️ Featured Poet: Denzel McCausland @denzelmccausland

Denzel is a actor and poet based in Miami. His love for poetry truly sparked in 2023, when looking for an outlet to use his creativity and mix it with his writing. He works as a teaching atrist with Art Prevails Project where he goes to schools throughout Dade and Broward, teaching theatre and poetry to students. When not in the classroom he can be found on the stage where he has worked with numerous local theatres for the past five years. Denzel is thankful to be the feature for September’s open mic and looks forward to seeing everyone who comes out.

in a world of AI slop, this piece of paper is better for the planet (and easier on the eyes) than a terribly designed AI flyer.

anyways, here's an announcement of the band:
returning members:
@izzimakesmusic 🪊
@nickchinmusic 🎷
@jtmir 🎸
& and of course, yours truly ( @malletmamacita ) on a bunch of things, all contained within one(?) instrument which I may or may not have an endorsement for.

and introducing:
@yamilayalamusic 🎤
@angelinefontaine 🎤
Taina Adam 🎤
@michaelgasparimusic 🎹
@rickyrisquez 🎻
@lazco_official 🥁

(I'm wondering if @cawybottlinginc will send us a couple matervas and jupiñas)

Wild Bloom Poetry 8.19.26 🪊

For those who haven’t met her yet, @izzimakesmusic is Wild Bloom’s resident musician.

A trombonist, composer, arranger and educator, Izzi has been part of Wild Bloom since our second gathering over a year ago.

Her music sets the tone before the first poem is read.

After a few months away, she returned to the garden in August.

An excerpt from her opening set.

Jazz + poetry meet at @emilysgardenus every third Wednesday.

Wild Bloom Poetry 8.19.26 🌧️

Izzi returned after months away, her brassy sounds waking up the energy.

Featured Poet Kellasandra Ferrara eased us into poetry beautifully.

And then, there was rain.

We made room under shelters. Squeezed indoors. People stepped up to help one another.

Water everywhere last night. Rain, sweat, tears, poetry.

And we surfed the waves 🌊

Thank you to all who flowed with us.
