Realities of trying to pursue goals and dreams as simultaneously just-a-girl who wants love and connection 🌸🌷

Only one ballet class this week as part of #70percentfoundations but that is okay!

Life is lifing 🫠

One of the reasons why #70percentfoundations is so hard is because these choreography classes are so good 😩

It really does take discipline to spend less time on what feels amazing right now, and more time on the more repetitive, slower burn, foundational steps 🐾

In today’s world we shoot for immediate gratification, and nowhere have I felt this culture more than here in NYC, the place where you can access everything you could ever desire 🍏

Tearing yourself away from having the time of your life in a choreo class takes a lot of self-control. I’m giving it a go 🤸‍♀️

Still got that 30% left tho so don’t come for me when I post heels videos lolll 💃

#70percentfoundations is the story of how and why I’m committing to spend 70% of the time I spend dancing over the next year practicing foundations and technique 🩰

And seeing how much it changes my movement 💃

There comes a point in the journey of dancers like me - people who have built a whole career and identity outside of dance - where you don’t only want to dance for fun anymore

You want to really grow and change how you move 🚀

Here’s one way to do that. Let’s see how it goes ⛅️

Brb just popping to the park between meetings for some stretchy stretch timeeee 🍃

When you’re someone who wants to dance all day every day

But right now you’re chained to a desk all day instead, for your job

I get it 🙇🏼‍♀️

We gotta be creative with when movement can happen 🤸‍♀️

Also just found this song WHEEWWWWWWW gonna choreograph to this soon for sure 😮‍💨

What a beautiful twist of events that I went from loving ballet growing up, to leaving dance for ~10 years for university, career, life, to losing myself in my 20s, moving to NYC, somehow doing this big girl tech job in the big apple, dancing my heart out, and now sharing what I’m learning about authenticity and self-expression with women like me ♥️

New month, new energy, new possibilities ✨

I’m walking into this month with gratitude for where I am and excitement for where I’m going 😊. Life keeps teaching me to be patient, to stay positive, and to trust that everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.

To anyone reading this, I hope this month treats you kindly. I hope you find reasons to smile, moments to celebrate, and strength to keep chasing your dreams 🫶🏽. No matter what last month looked like, this is a fresh start another chance to grow, to heal, and to move forward.

Happy new month we made it, and that alone is something to be thankful for. ✨

I got a little excited 🤭

One of the many skills we learn in dance is that of picking up choreography - something that comes with time in dance training and our ability to pay attention to the musicality of the song as the blueprint for the movement.

As @itsemmarosa taught us in one class, musicality is like solving a puzzle. It’s a mind game - a fun one 💃

And that’s exactly why learning choreo has made me a more innovative builder in tech.

My full talk on how: now live on my Substack 💐
