Seeing @brettbarley post about the jetty at the old lighthouse site really brings back the memories!! Rode many waves there and other spots like old road, boilers, etc. Jane and I spent our Honeymoon at the Avon Motel 51 years ago this coming November. So yeah we knew the island well. We are from Va Beach but lived in Jax/Atlantic beach, Florida for a while then moved back to Va beach. Proud that we qualified to surf in the Easterns there from both the Virginia and North Florida ESA districts. Just never seemed the same after the lighthouse was moved but still a great wave!

The final day of @motes_militia surf camp was a banger! The young groms took everything they learned throughout the week and paddled to the outside break for a ton of laughs, so many epic rides, and a few set waves nobody was ready for 🤪💪🏻🤙🏻

These kids were FEARLESS, and like @conscious_operator always says, THEY BELONG HERE!!!

The future is bright!

@motes_militia SURF CAMP WEEK 8!! Monday through Thursday had some surf but the Devil south wind chopping it up but the groms handled it well and today were rewarded with super clean thigh high plus perfectly clean conditions. Awesome stuff to witness!! Thank you to the parents that trust us with their babies and thank you once again to my incredible staff!! One more week and summer 2026 will be completed.
