Looking at this photo, it almost feels like a protest accidentally turned into a rock concert.

In a way, that’s not entirely wrong.
@haobai523’s lighting design was truly superb.

LUCKY FM 2 by Slant Performance Group wrapped up very successfully on Sun 5/31. Every performance was sold out.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to see the show and shared how much you enjoyed it.

A special big thank you to Perry, Wayland, and Rick for taking me under your wings and welcoming me back. George and Karen, thank you very much for your wisdom, guidance, and for taking such good care of us. Thank you very much, Fran, for your superb cinematography and for bringing so much joy, laughter, and positive energy to our team.

Thank you very much to La MaMa for bringing us back. My first show in New York City was at La MaMa, and I am proud to be one of the many “La MaMa babies” whose artistic journey began there.

Thank you as well to Hao, Glen, Sophine, Lia📸, Phil📷 , friends made the contributions to Kickstarter, Peter and the families of the Slant boys for all your support and for everything you do.

It was especially meaningful to perform our new song, “Free to Be” written by Rick, in the current political climate. The song is dedicated to all those fighting for freedom, and I was deeply moved to hear that it became a favorite among many of my activist friends who attended the show.

Being part of this production was about much more than performing arts for me. It reflects my activism, history, identity, solidarity, sense of duty, and the way I live my life.

I dedicated this production to my mentor and acting teacher, the late Terry Schreiber, and to all those—past, present, and future—who strive to stand on the right side of history.

This country is so fucked up right now. There is still too much work to do, and no time for post-show depression💪🏻

Onward. ✊

#latergram #aaiff48 by @asiancinevision Again this year, as #sagaftra #apamcommittee national vice chair, I got to be a part of several segments such as introducing opening night film@slantedmovie (I won’t say much since it’s still in festival circuit, world premiered at #southbysouthwest this year but once this gets distribution which I’m sure it will, you need to catch this) starring @shirleylchen and @mckennagraceful followed by #filmmaker #brunch event where I had a career conversation with Shirley. This festival gets better and better every year, the longest running Asian American themed film festival in the nation and looking forward to more collaboration in the future. As always, great to see our committee members @perryyungofficial @misstemptasian @_marissacarpio and many others contributing artistically as well. @sagaftra.apam #sagaftra #sagaftramembers #sagaftramember #newyorkcity #newyork #nyc #ny #hollywood #unionservice #actor #actorslife🎬 #slantedmovie #slanted 📸by @e.lin_____ @liachangphotography etc

Multitasking today for street cleaning - listening to the latest mix of #itstoughbeingcorkylee as I move the car. Thanks to the studio wizardry of #vlado, we don’t sound too bad. 😎

For those who donated to our @kickstarter campaign for #luckyFM please know that we’re working to get the live recording of all eight songs mixed as well as possible before we fulfill the digital download perks. Thank you so much for your generous donation in supporting live theater and making it accessible to everyone.

Special thanks so much to our producer @ghirose60 !

Congrats to an amazing two weeks with @asiancinevision and #AAIFF

So honored and proud to be in #badcompany with this community of presenters, artists and journalists. There’s nothing like seeing our stories told on the big screen.

We tell a vastly different story of a complex and nuanced #america, invisible to the one currently promoted by the new admin. It’s more important than ever to support film festivals.

Looking forward to more #good trouble from the #asiandiaspora.

Congratulations to @asiancinevision for another successful festival Opening Night! Executive Director John Woo kicked off AAIFF48 and invited the audience to anticipate the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of the festival. Programming Director @dhckris and Creative Director @ihsiehyounot presented the festival’s theme of Kintsugi — the Japanese art of mending broken ceramics with gold.

@sagaftra.apam co-chair @nicknsakai introduced the @sagaftra sponsored opening film, @amywangster’s body horror thriller slantedmovie! Leads @shirleylchen and @macdaddyfang were in da house for a Q&A sesh with @alexfchester afterwards!

Bravo to the dedicated AAIFF event team and volunteers for a successful start to the festival!
