Where do I even begin,

Florida A&M University has been my home away from home these past 3 years and all I can say is wow. Baby-faced, nervous, and 6 hours away from home, I had no clue what I was getting myself into, especially as a first-generation grad. I remember asking myself when I moved in, would people on campus even know my name?

Little did I know, my name would be everywhere. From being a part of the inaugural cohort of the Disney Storytellers Program, making a documentary, to being involved in various student media where I found my second family at Journey Magazine, and even being recognized in hallways for my work, I learned how important my reputation was and what it could do for me. I’ve learned so much about myself and the world as a journalist and because of that, I’ve been able to experience so much more than I ever thought I would. And I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for FAMU, specifically the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication.

To J School (thee best school 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️) thank you for shaping me into not just a journalist, but a person who is more than her articles, but a young woman who can do anything she puts her mind to and will always succeed because of her exceptional foundation and education. And another thank you to my Journey Magazine family for solidifying my want to work within publishing whether it be books or magazines.

To my other half, my sister from another mister, my roomie, we started this together and finished together and I couldn’t be more grateful. From freshman year of high school to college graduation, I wouldn’t have done it with anyone else. We had a time and I will never forget it. Thank you for pushing me and never letting me give up, we kept each other going through those hard nights💙

Lastly to the most important people in my life, my family🥹, you guys truly held it down. Being the first to graduate from a university is truly an honor and I did it for you guys. Constant support, love, and gratitude are all I ever received regardless of my decisions and for that, I can never thank you all enough.

Signing out,
