A few moments of preparatory chaos before playing a couple of songs with Three At Home at an undisclosed basement in Columbus.

Friday and Saturday night have me feeling exhausted today, but it's a good kind of exhausted.

Friday featured a house show that I played with Scuzzy Wayne and Boston band Three At Home. It was an intimate, cozy, personal experience that filled me with joy. Such a great reminder of how good it feels to pay music with other people, but also how great it is to listen up close to live music.

Saturday night's show was at Oregon Express in downtown Dayton. The extremely kind and talented musicians of Three At Home let me take a shot at learning their songs, and I joined them onstage for half of their set. Again, playing music with other people brings me joy, especially when the songs as as good as the ones they write. This was also my first time seeing The Rong Brothers, a great name for a band from Dayton. It won't be the last time I see them play.

I am grateful to Brandon, Jackie, Aaron, Rick, Kari, Dann, and Mary (among others) for a weekend I'll never forget.

#IAmTheAcademy and have joined countless creators and professionals who serve, celebrate, and advocate in the name of music year-round. It’s an honor be part of this year’s new @recordingacademy member class.

That up there is the official copy. Personally speaking, I'd like to express my gratitude to Briget Boyle and Jackie Goff Semler. See, you have to have recommendations from 2 Academy members in order to apply for membership, and those two kindly provided those. I hope to pay it forward someday.

Other than paying my sales tax to the State of Ohio (which isn't exactly something I get excited about), this is a thing that makes me feel like an actual professional.

October is National Protect your Hearing Month so we went on a studio field trip yesterday for an ear exam and cleaning at @rkears!

As audio professionals we have to be diligent about protecting the one thing that enables us to make invisible art. We encourage everyone we know in the audio field to do the same so we can all keep making music for many years to come!
