Yesterday was a hard one. After a restless night & clear discomfort, I took Newman the Human to the vet in the morning not expecting them to see a blockage requiring immediate surgery. I hugged him & told him that he would be ok and I would be back, but what they found was cancer, and it was inoperable. The only humane thing to do was to put him to sleep instead of waking him back up to say goodbye. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. I’ve laid here all night thinking about what a gift he was to me and to our family. My 20th wedding anniversary present from my husband, he has made the house so much less lonely in spite of boys graduating & moving out and a husband away for work. What I would give to see him lose his mind again when he hears Jackson pull in from college, or his favorite afternoon activity to “Go get Lu” from school or to see him wrestle Tan like a pro. I’d give up every leg rest and watch every rug get messed up as his chosen blanket. I’d readily sacrifice all the Thanksgiving pies and cookies he confiscated & clean up every bathroom he raided looking for toilet paper. I would happily hang myself off the edge of my bed while he took up Robert’s whole side and mine every week night. What I would give to see his face at the door as I pull out and the only dog I’ve ever known to smile every single time I come home…. To watch Mallie save her last bite of cat food every morning for him in exchange for a bite of his dog food. And I would tell him, if I could, that he is the very best dog friend I’ve ever had, and he loved & protected us all so well until the very last day. I miss you, sweet boy ❤️

Happy birthday to this handsome man I will soon get to call my husband. He is my best friend in the entire world, and I am so completely in love with all that he is.

From 16 years old to now 22 years old, I have had the honor of watching you continually grow and mature into the person you are today. We have made so many memories, laughed so hard, had times that weren’t so good, and times that were great. But no matter what, it’s been so sweet to experience it all together that I decided I wanted to do it for the rest of my life with YOU. ;)

Jackson, thank you for who you are and for the unconditional love you show me. So much of who I am today is because of the consistent joy, love, comfort, and encouragement you give to me on a daily basis. You are the person who showed me that home isn’t four walls, but instead wherever you are. You make the heavy days lighter and the best days feel sweeter. You just make my world a better place and I can’t wait to build this life together. no matter what comes our way I trust you will hold my hand every step of the way. We are only getting started on this adventure together. I am so proud of you and all that you have and will continue to accomplish. I can’t wait to have the front row seat at watching all your dreams come true. You are the hardest worker I know. Happy birthday J, I can’t wait to spend a lifetime of birthdays together. I hope you know how loved you are by me today and every day.

There truly are no words to fully capture how I feel in this moment—but I’ll try.

The Lord has been so faithful to both of us in every season over these past five years, and today we saw His faithfulness yet again, answering our prayers in His good and perfect timing.

Five years ago tomorrow, after just three short weeks of dating, you sent me a message that said, “I am gonna marry you, Kenzie Boyd.” I remember reading it, and although my 15-year-old heart melted, I also thought you were a little crazy 😅. But goodness, you have been so true to your word. You have chosen daily to pursue my heart in such a pure and gentle way, and you have protected it in ways I never deserved—never once making me question my beauty or worth. But instead, you have always pointed me to Jesus, showing me such a sweet picture of His love through the way you sacrificially love me. That is why I fell so in love with you.

That feeling of “He’s crazy” quickly turned into the prayer, “Lord, please let him be my husband.”So today, I said YES to a lifetime of Jackson Nathaniel Griggs. Yes to choosing you every day. Yes to holding your hand through every dream you chase, praying deeply for you daily, and yes to being your WIFE. Most importantly, today I said yes to striving every single day to be a picture of Christ’s love with you. I am beyond honored that the Lord chose me to do this life with you. He knew before I was born that I would need you —and that is a blessing I’ll spend the rest of my life cherishing. You are truly walking evidence of the loving God that we serve, and I could not be more honored to get to be your wife. I will never deserve the overwhelming amount of joy and love you give me, but I will cherish it deeply for the rest of my life. Jackson, I promise to love you until my lungs give out. You were right—you ARE going to marry me, and I cannot wait to be your wife 😭😭😭 For now, let’s soak in the fiancé era and plan a wedding together. Happy 5th anniversary, I love you! There is no better way to ring in the new year than with hands lifted high, worshiping the triune God who deserves every ounce of our praise and glory.

CrossCon continues to be the highlight of my year, year after year. It is so refreshing to be among 12,000+ other souls who desire true communion and a genuine relationship with God.
Even more, we share a longing for every nation, tribe, and tongue to partake in the greatness of our God.

I am so thankful for my church and for the people God has placed in my life—those who push me to the feet of Jesus when I don’t feel I can do it myself. More importantly, I am eternally grateful that God died for me, chose me, justified me, and continues daily to sanctify me as I grow in His knowledge and wisdom.

2025 was such a sweet year, and I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for 2026. May His will be done. And may ALL the glory go to Him and Him alone.
