In this episode of the Art Stories Podcast, hosted by Sky Lilah (@skylilah), we sit down with Jonatan Bando (JACLOT), a Vancouver-based watercolor artist whose work explores the profound connection between memory, emotion, and place. Born in Argentina and raised in Japan, Jonatan brings a unique cross-cultural lens to his art, crafting compositions that transcend traditional landscape painting. Through his signature series like Whistler 36 Views and Vancouver, he combines multiple perspectives within single works, inviting viewers into the lived experience of a journey rather than a single destination.

In our conversation, we explore how Jonatan's multicultural background shapes his artistic practice, the innovative process behind his layered landscape compositions, and what it means to create work that asks us to slow down and truly see the world around us. We also dive into his philosophy of place, the immediacy of watercolor as a medium, and how art can become a form of refuge and reflection in our increasingly fast-paced world.

@100amigosartshow at @astroartsfestival
Lady year I went opening night and it was pretty busy, I saw how busy it was last night and I’m glad I waited until today to drop in. There’s murals being painted in the back and out front are a number of artists and vendors, if you can, you should come by #100amigos
