We had a blast with everybody this weekend at the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community! A huge thank you to everybody who braved the heat to join us in person or virtually! This was our first time ever participating in something like this and we didn't know what to expect. There were over 70 other incredible nonprofits participating in this event in the Pittsburgh region and we were excited to learn from them! As a small organization run by 4 volunteers, we had a lot to learn and figured this year would be mostly about learning and raising awareness for activity based therapy. We set our financial goal for the event at $10,000 to give us something to strive towards. We are BLOWN AWAY that you guys nearly doubled our goal and put NextStep Pittsburgh in the top 3 fundraisers of the event!! None of this would be possible without our team captains who are so passionate about creating change in the Pittsburgh paralysis community. Thank you for your dedication and sharing your stories. The support for activity based therapy in Pittsburgh is so encouraging and we can't thank you all enough!

Please meet committee member Jaclyn Lenhart who is captain of Jaclyn’s Joggers! Jaclyn first became involved with Take Steps three years ago and has been dedicated to the mission ever since. She is very passionate about Take Steps because she does not want others to ever have to go through the struggles that she has faced with IBD. She also hopes that through these efforts, no parent will have to be told that their child has an incurable disease. Jaclyn was also our 2021 Adult Honored Hero, and she continues to be an instrumental member of our Take Steps community. We are so lucky to have Jaclyn on our planning committee!
