2026 was a Salt Lake summer. Para World Series, Youth Nationals, and Youth Fest.

These are the moments in between my job. Part of what makes what I do so special are the people I get to work alongside and meet. Many who turn into friends. ❣️

If you’re one of them, thank you.

Race Recap: Tri-ing for a Cure Olympic triathlon (7/26)

📍Ottawa Lake, WI

✅ 1.5K swim
✅ 25 mile bike
✅ 10K run

3:28 finish
Age group 9th place

After several years working on improving my swim, I feel like I have made really noticeable progress this season. In this race I was able to control my heart rate and breathing in the water right away (IYKYK, the best way to lock in for a race swim). I think it’s really cool that I was able to switch up my pace as needed in the water and increase speed toward the end. I just got a bit bottlenecked once I caught up to a pack of swimmers ahead of me, but nevertheless it was a proud moment. On the bike: this is one of the flattest bike courses I race, and I was thankful for that – especially since I had ridden many miles in the RW24 on Friday/Saturday. Speaking of the RW24: I was extremely sleep deprived for this tri as a result, and it really started to hit me once I got to the run. The lack of sleep combined with intense heat and very little shade made this a really tough run for me. I ended up walking a lot of it. But I made it to the finish line and, even better, got to see so many friends and Team Phoenix family. 💜🧡

This race season seems to be flying by, and I only have two tris left – both sprint distance. The next one is coming up this Sunday! Send me good race vibes, please 💖

Not loud. Just right.

This kind of piece doesn’t ask for attention… it holds it.

Quiet luxury. Presence felt.

Life, climbing, route setting, travels, and general antics from the past year or so

If I had to pick two words that described this year best, it would probably be a mix of bildungsroman and ikigai. If I had to pick one word, it would be rock. And while I do believe these to be the most encapsulating words for my experiences, I think people are too quick to jump on the bandwagon of talking about the negatives of the year: to prove to others that there was some basis from which their growth manifested. So I’m gonna focus on the good parts of my year, as I’m lucky to say there were enough to keep me happy for a lifetime - and it’s a warm feeling to know there’ll be many more fulfilled lifetimes’ worth of experiences to come. Happy early New Year from my bed in Australia to wherever you may be!
