🥋 More than just a workout. More than just Jiu-Jitsu.

People start Jiu-Jitsu for all sorts of reasons. Some want to get fitter, some want to learn self-defence, and others are simply looking for a new challenge.

But what keeps people coming back is often so much more.

It’s the friendships you build, the confidence you develop, the challenges you overcome and the sense of achievement that comes with learning something new.

At Circle of Vigour, we’re proud to have built a community where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can train, learn and improve together.

Whether you’re completely new to Jiu-Jitsu or have years of experience, there’s a place for you on our mats.

Jiu Jitsu is for everyone, you just need the right circle.

What do you actually get from Jiu-Jitsu?

You get fitter. You get stronger. You build confidence.

You learn how to stay calm under pressure, solve problems and keep going when things get difficult.

For kids and teens, it can mean confidence, discipline, respect and finding somewhere they belong.

For adults, it can be the hour of the day where everything else switches off. No work. No phone. No distractions. Just learning, moving and training with good people.

And somewhere along the way, exercise stops feeling like something you have to do and becomes something you actually look forward to.

You don’t need to be fit before you start.
You don’t need any experience.
You don’t need to know anything about Jiu-Jitsu.

You just need to walk through the door.

TO GI OR NOT TO GI? 🥋

At Circle of Vigour, we choose both.

We train Gi and No-Gi because we believe both are important. They offer different challenges, develop different skills and ultimately help build more rounded Jiu-Jitsu.

But that doesn’t mean you have to love them equally.

Prefer the Gi? Great.

Prefer No-Gi? Great.

Love both? Even better.

There’s no right answer and there’s definitely no need to pick a side.

Train what you enjoy. Keep learning. Keep improving.

For us, both. For you? That’s your call.

Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone. You just need the right circle.

Why Circle of Vigour?

A question we’ve been asked plenty of times, and there is a meaning behind both the name and the identity.

Vigour. The Circle. The warrior ethos.

It represents what we want our academy to be: a place where people develop strength, resilience and confidence, surrounded by a community that challenges and supports them.

Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone. You just need the right circle.

Head coaches, but always training partners too.

We’re constantly getting rounds in with our students. Testing them, pushing them, letting them test us and making sure we’re all continuing to improve.

And the truth is, they give us a bloody hard time more often than we’d probably like to admit.

That’s exactly how it should be.

We want to lead from the mats, not just from the side of them.

And excuse the sweaty mess. It was a hard session 😂

One year of Circle of Vigour 🥋

Back in July, we celebrated our first anniversary and asked some of our members to share what the academy and the community means to them.

We’ve shared their stories individually, but hearing them all together hits a little differently.

When we opened the doors, we wanted to create more than just somewhere to train Jiu-Jitsu. We wanted to build a place where people felt welcome, supported and part of something. A place where everyone, regardless of experience, age or ability, could walk through the door and feel like they belonged.

A year later, this is what that looks like.

Different people. Different backgrounds. Different reasons for training. One community.

Thank you to everyone who has trained with us, supported us and helped shape Circle of Vigour into what it is today.

And thank you to @ossmedialimited for capturing it so perfectly.
