Describe #NAHJ26 in NOLA in ONE word — drop it in the comments! 👇🏽

We’re so grateful to have connected with our Pride community at NAHJ this year — swapping stories in sessions, hallways, and coffee shops, and of course at our unforgettable happy hour.

A huge thank you to this year’s taskforce team Anitta Adams, @anaclaraotoni and @davidcorderomercado for all the hard work behind the scenes to make these gatherings possible! 🙌🏽🏳️‍🌈✨

At our table, we talked with people about what they want this taskforce to become, and shared our exclusive sticker as a reminder that we have a community here all year long.

Many expressed interest in working with us, and we’ll have more details on that soon! 😉

What does it take to sustain journalism?

At #NAHJ26, we were reminded that sustainable journalism starts with people who are supported —and that leadership, care, and community aren't extras. They're part of the work 🌱

Three takeaways we’re carrying with us:

✅ Leadership with empathy
✅ Journalists need care, too
✅ Community is a form of support

At MDRnet, we’re continuing to explore what it takes to build healthier, more resilient journalism communities, together with journalists, newsrooms, and the people who support them.

When women, queer people, Black professionals, and first-generation professionals struggle with imposter syndrome, we’re often told the problem is a lack of confidence.

But what if it’s a reasonable response to navigating environments where you’ve had to work twice as hard to be seen, where your experiences haven’t been reflected, or where you’ve learned that belonging can feel conditional?

I’m really excited to explore this topic with leadership coach @jahnaberry in an upcoming conversation about imposter syndrome, confidence, and thriving at work!

📅 June 22
⏰ 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT

Hey love, I know, the times are... timing right now.

It feels risky to invest and it feels tender to dream big. But your dream– you know, that one where you’re showing up fully, doing the work you *know* you’re meant to do... that dream matters.

You need it. And the world needs it.

What would it feel like to invest in a path that will pay you dividends in self-trust, confidence, clarity, and community?

Our grads are building beautiful, thriving practices, but more than anything, they’ve built belief in themselves. They take up space and lead with courage and they show up, even when it’s scary.

Your dream wasn’t meant to live on a shelf. Let’s take it down, dust it off, and see what it can become.

Applications are open now for our 2026-2027 Cohort. Comment ‘APPLY’ or visit the link in @wholeheartedcoaching bio to begin. ✨

I went to my first @nlgjaofficial in New York in 2004 and I was delighted to find an organization of fellow professionals and a new community. I was in my 20s then, living in Florida, and still early in my career as a journalist.

I so enjoyed #nlgja25 in Atlanta — my new home, post Nashville — , for the sessions, the camaraderie and the sense of urgency around storytelling and fulfilling our First Amendment duties. Some longtime members reminded me that we are now “legends” — definitely longer in the tooth than 21 years ago.

Looking forward to next year’s conference in S.F. On Day One, I’ll be achieving a milestone birthday so there will plenty to celebrate.
