Never found a stage I didn’t like. 🤪 But hey, at least I put in the work! 🫏

Last Thursday was my 2nd time serving as Co-Chair of the SF Dems Gala and we beat our own record (from last year) for raising the most on record! The money supports our amazing endorsed candidates and ballot measures.

Thank you to my amazing co-chair, @carrieelisebarnes and our fellow host committee members, Chair @nancyhtung and @jaimehuling!

On to November! 🗳️💪🏻

Another year. Another successful @sfdemocrats Gala! ✨

I was honored to serve as Co-Chair again along with @joesangirardi. We filled the room and exceeded our fundraising goal. 👏

From protecting our voting rights to standing up to Trump to safeguard our immigrant, workers, and LGBTQ+ communities, we recognized three honorees who have been putting in the work to defend our Democracy: @asmshirleyweber, @liuna261, and @davidchiu.sf.

I am grateful for our volunteers and gala committee members @nancyhtung @jaimehuling @bobakkabob37 and @csidpics. And our many sponsors, including @ncscarpenters and @topherconway. And thank you to the hundreds of dedicated Dems who came together to celebrate our community.

A successful night is also dependent on the friends you surround yourself with, so thank you to my table: @famousnathans Rohit Chopra @paragguptasf @mtclai @revolvingretailer @sophie4mayor @cdavitian and of course @phineasb 🤗

Today IS National Voter Registration Day. Are you registered to vote? If we want to win elections (and take back the House), we have to exercise our collective voice 🗳️

It was a great night at the SF Democratic Party's gala, surrounded by so many people dedicated to defending our democracy and building a city that works for everyone. I’m running for school board to make sure that mission extends to our public schools. Thrilled to have the SF Democratic Party's endorsement!

The annual @sfdemocrats gala is in the books! 🪩

Last night we held our annual celebration / fundraiser and this year the theme we chose is “Defenders of Democracy” opting to honor individuals and groups that are fighting for our democracy and for our city every single day. Honorees were @davidchiu.sf @liuna261 and CA Secretary of State Shirley Weber, with the keynote being delivered by one of MY favorite defenders of democracy, and very tall housing champion, Senator @scott_wiener 🦒💙

Every year this event consumes a ton of my work bandwidth around the Summer/Fall and every year it’s always a mad dash to the final finish. Ironically enough because it’s an event I have to produce and *work* at, I never actually get to enjoy the program and/or soak it all in…😅

But that’s okay, because this event is what powers our work at the @sfdemocrats for the coming year and it just brings me joy to see so many different folks from various causes, unions, advocacy orgs and other places in S.F. political life come together, get a little glamorous, and enjoy themselves for the evening before we all hunker down and volunteer around the clock for our favorite candidates and causes ahead of November 🗳️🇺🇸

As always, my deepest appreciation for my coworker @csidpics (who took on primary management of the event this year!), the volunteers that helped make the event a success, the members of the gala organizing committee @carrieelisebarnes @joesangirardi @jaimehuling for being so excellent to work with.

Another thanks goes to @preziosieventproductions for helping us manage the event logistics, to the team at @paulaleduc for catering the event with precision, to the fine folks at @bimbos365club for hosting us again, and as always, my deepest appreciation to my boss and mentor, @nancyhtung for constantly living up to our shared @uniteddemclubsf motto of #DoTheWork and for being an absolute badass fundraiser 💸💰

Now onward, to November, we have some elections to win 💪🏽

Tonight, we hosted a community education town hall with the Westside Family Democratic Club about the future of San Francisco public education.

Thank you to San Francisco Board of Education Vice President Jaime Huling and Commissioner Parag Gupta for joining the conversation and engaging on important topics including school assignment, neighborhood access, language immersion, academic opportunities, district sustainability, and what it will take to strengthen confidence in our public schools.

San Francisco families deserve to be part of these conversations, not informed after the fact.

As a former member of the City College Board, policy director at Children’s Council of San Francisco, and now Supervisor representing one of the city’s highest concentrations of public school families, I know how deeply education decisions shape children, families, and neighborhoods.

While school governance decisions sit with the district, my job is to make sure District 4 families are heard, represented, and connected to the conversations shaping their children’s future.

Grateful to the Westside Family Democratic Club for partnering on this conversation, and thank you to every parent, family, and community member who took the time to join us, ask thoughtful questions, and share your perspectives.

Tonight’s conversation was an important step, and my office will continue making sure District 4 families’ voices are part of the conversations shaping the future of our public schools.

Our public schools are at the heart of our neighborhoods, and SFUSD’s decisions will have a major impact on Westside families.

For too long, the school assignment system has been confusing, stressful, and frustrating. Families deserve a fair, transparent process that gives them more certainty and better access to neighborhood schools.

Join us tomorrow for the District 4 Education Town Hall to share your concerns and help shape the future of SFUSD.

Space may be limited — RSVP in advance. Link in bio.

Last month, I invited a group of school board Presidents and Vice Presidents from the 12 largest public school districts in the Bay Area to San Francisco. This was the first time we’ve come together independently in this way. I learned so much from my peers across the region—from Napa Valley to San Ramon to San Jose, and everywhere in between. Collectively, we represent over 300,000 students! Too often, we work in silos when there is so much opportunity to learn from and partner with one another.

We are building trust, alignment, and stronger regional relationships across districts. This convening reflects a growing recognition that no single district can solve our challenges alone. Strengthening relationships across districts improves our collective ability to advocate effectively, share solutions, and learn from one another’s experiences.

As school board leaders, we recognize the unique responsibility and opportunity we have to grow in our leadership and strengthen governance practices in service of students and communities.

I’m excited to continue building these relationships and advancing this regional collaboration. More to come!
