We have some amazing members here at Hive, but I want to take a moment to brag about the team…more specifically, the incredible team behind our Ignite+ program.

@michaelabyars13 leads this amazing group of trainers and she created this weekend we dubbed Charlotte Fit Fest. A weekend where we push ourselves athletically, challenge one another, and have a hell of a lot of fun doing it.

What you saw this weekend was the result of so much work behind the scenes- a choreographed piece of art brought to life by these incredible trainers and led by Michaela. And I absolutely can’t leave out @shelbwatss for all of her administrative magic and support along the way!

I feel incredibly lucky to not only call these people my coworkers, but my friends and in many ways, family.

I couldn’t be happier to be surrounded by such a fantastic group of trainers. They are hardworking, loving, genuinely invested in the success of others, and consistently lead with selflessness and integrity. Those are the kinds of people we should all want in our corner.

To the entire Hive Fitness team: Thank you. Genuinely, thank you.

Front desk, personal trainers, group trainers—every single one of you plays a part in making this place what it is. Without you, Hive would just be a big building with a bunch of heavy stuff in it.

You are what makes Hive feel like Hive. ❤️

Confessions of a Christian. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m messed up, it’s WHY I need Christ. But I want to make a habit of confessing only my own shortfalls online rather than pointing out faults of others.

READ! I’m not going to make a huge caption, but I am going to list scripture. Go read, ask for wisdom, let me know what you think. God got me good in the car this morning.
- Matthew 13:24-30
- Matthew 28:19
- John 10:7-16
- John 17
- Romans 14:19
- Ephesians 4:2-3

“After a software update from ToneX changed how my captures felt, I decided my tone would never be beholden to a software update again. So I went to the best of the best: Bad Cat” -Jake

Got some cool pics of your Bad Cat rig? Send them our way. We’d love to share your story!

so back 🖤

ok, story time…
(and some fun pics from memory lane that made me happy)

i finally got a chance to move to charlotte and be part of EC school of worship in 2016, and at the end of the 9 month semester, a campus was launching back at home in winston, where I would spend the next several years learning, building, and following God’s call.

from 2016-2020, the worship team was all I knew every weekend. some of the most impactful moments in my faith journey have come because of this ministry and the deep friendships I’ve made here, not to mention the caliber of musician it helped me become.

i started playing in church when i was about 7. i don’t know if i would’ve actually stuck with music this far into life without it.
every sunday and wednesday, that’s where i was, up until 2020.

we moved to california soon after getting married, and weren’t always 100% sure what it would look like, but we were following God’s voice into whatever he chose us to do.

after going into full time entrepreneurship in 2020, my time away from the platform faded away. i knew in my heart that season was complete, at least for the time being… but i always prayed i would get to play in church again when the time was right and when my heart was ready for it.

all of this to say, there are seasons for everything. and i am thankful for the work God has done in me after 6 years away from the “platform”, as it’s often called.
i’ve learned that just because something is all you’ve ever known, doesn’t mean you can’t explore new things, get good at new things, or find new rhythms. lastly, this time has made me deepen my relationship with God without the title of “MD” or “worship leader” attached to it, and it’s been a beautiful and unexpected journey. i leave every sunday with a huge smile on my face, refreshed and ready for the week, and thankful for the opportunity.

“Joshua went up to him and asked, whose side are you on, our side or their side? Neither one he replied. I am the Commander of the Lord’s Army.” - Joshua 5:13-14
.
It’s not about whose side he is on. It’s are we on his?
.
The Kingdom of God transcends human power structures. It’s not of this world and if its tools are of it - they can claim his name all day - but it’s a counterfeit.
.
Revival doesn’t come from a political movement. It’s comes when we unite together in Christ, love him with all our heart, soul, mind, strength. When we live set apart from the patterns of this world, WHILE loving others as Christ loved us - FULL STOP.
.
We are the ones who come together, care for the oppressed, the foreigner, the widows, the vulnerable. We don’t pick and choose because according to Genesis God created humans (ALL humans) in his image. God came in Christ to die for ALL.
.
WE live set apart knowing that it’s by the grace of God alone that writes it in our hearts to do so. So we can’t boast against those who don’t know him, for we can do NOTHING aside from Him either.
.
If we want to see the presence of God in this nation, we need to go back to our roots. If we want to see people come to know him, we need to remember the Acts of the Apostles and go back to The Way. Community, Charity, love, obedience, unity on the Gospel of CHRIST alone.
.
If we want to see healing, peace, unity in this nation and the globe - we have to stop contending for ideology and start LIVING for Him.
.
Christ said if you love me YOU (individual call/collective church body call) will keep my commandments. YOU will share the gospel (word AND deed) and make disciples. It’s time to bring our allegiance back to our King. It’s time to practice before we preach.

Of course, as a photographer, my appreciation for having photos of us has grown. Now we try to have professional photos taken at least once a year and I document a lot of big and small moments for our family through the year, even if they are just iPhone photos. While the photos just catch a glimpse of one moment in time, when I look back through them, more memories come flooding back in. (And thats super important for me since I have a terrible memory!!)

At the end of each year I make a family album, not a super expensive or fancy one, but they’re printed. They can be held and pages can be flipped and we can excitedly point at a photo and say, remember when? They would probably be one of the few things I would grab incase of a house fire because they are my memories.

Swipe through to see the simple albums I make for us with through @artifactuprising with a mix of professional photos but mostly poor quality iphone pics.

This is your reminder to do a few things, book a session, back up photos from your phone and PRINT your photos. They don’t deserve in the digital black hole forever.

Come to the Cross.
.
The world is a confusing place and God knows. He knows our struggles, he knows are fears, our shortcomings, the things we try to outrun or hide in the dark.
.
But Jesus said “come to ME all who are weary and heaven laden and I will give you rest.”
.
He wants every single one of you. I know some churches have taught you weren’t worthy, you couldn’t be loved as you are, you had to change things first but that is not the gospel.
.
The gospel is we are in a world of wickedness and the transgressions of those of the past have infected us, hurt us, consumed us, it’s shaped us and molded us. We have even added to it ourselves each in our own ways.
.
But Christ came for each of us. He came regardless, he died regardless, and HE lives regardless and he is calling ALL his kids home. He will give you peace, he will show you have always been enough for him. He doesn’t care about your ethnicity or stature or whatever box society has you into declaring your worth. He says no, in his eyes we always were and still are ALL worth dying for and you are worth giving life to.
.
Forget what the world has told you - the light still shines in the darkness and the darker it is the brighter he shines, and He is pulling you back home. No pretending, no earning, just come wherever you are as you are. Turn back to him with every fiber of your being and he will walk with you and make the Image of God you were always meant to be. Bring him your shame, your fear, your resentment, your questions, your concerns, your doubts and let HIM transform it.
.
He ALONE is THE WAY. And it’s time for us all to come back home together. It’s time to connect back to the Creator become one in him and take the world back - exactly the way Christ did. Extending love, grace, and mercy one person at a time.
.
I’ll be performing this again soon for @foreveraltrd
