@jalinankl , TTDI a little gem worth discovering.

Jalinan has a simple, quaint and cosy charm to it. Nothing too fancy, just a warm, welcoming space that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in.

We were greeted by Nelson, our friendly server, who briefly walked us through the menu and made a few recommendations since it was our first time dining here. And honestly, his recommendations did not disappoint!

We started with the Mushroom Fritters & Truffle Sambal. I thought the combination sounded a little weird, but WOW, that sambal! The mushroom batter was crispy, well-seasoned, and paired surprisingly well with the sambal. A great start to the meal, especially since our starters arrived within 10 minutes of ordering.

Nelson also recommended the Pineapple & Curry Leaf Soda. I wasn’t entirely convinced at first, but decided to go with the whole “hey, seize the day” mentality. And I’m glad I did! The soda was delicious, with just the right hint of curry leaf without it being overpowering. Definitely an unexpected winner.

Then came the Sze Ha Century Mee. One bite and I was SOLD. The crispy hor fun, paired with that delicious sauce? Chef’s kiss. This was easily one of my favourites of the meal.

Next up was the Dry Laksa Ulam. It reminded me of Laksa Johor, which isn’t a bad thing at all because I love a good laksa! I was also a little worried that the grilled pomfret might taste fishy, but it was clean-tasting and complemented the dish beautifully.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert. We ordered the Pineapple Donut & Cucumber Raita Ice Cream, and this was such an interesting combination that somehow just WORKED. The ice cream and donut together were a match made in culinary heaven. On their own, they might not be as exciting, but together? Absolutely delicious.

Overall, Jalinan was full of pleasant surprises, from the unexpected flavour combinations to the warm service. Also, the playlist at the restaurant slaps! Special shout-out to Nelson for the recommendations!

Sometimes, the best meals come from being willing to try something you wouldn’t normally order. Jalinan, you understood the assignment. ✨
