I’m so thankful for the journey that led me to you, the community that lifts us up into this new era, and the life we continue to build together.

You offer quite a lot; confidence, compassion, charisma, just to name a few. But of the many qualities of yours that I love, your empathy, support, and emotional intelligence are some of the most impactful I’ve experienced. You have helped me achieve heights I might not have known if it weren’t for your faith in me. Your understanding has helped me feel seen and heal in ways I had yet to experience before you came into my life.

I look forward to what our future holds, am so thankful for our life together, and so grateful for every experience and adventure. ✨🤍

Beignets got me like 😝

Here’s to a party that never stops 🤍

And a community to uplift us 🤍

There is something about bringing together our people to commune, dance and support one another that reminds even the most hopeless of us that liberation and self determination is possible. Rooted in the Black Radical Tradition we move forward…

HOODHOUSE is intergenerational spiritual and political praxis live. It’s the food and the work the joy and the hurt hurling alchemists on the dance floor rearranging the insides of our movement member first. Baba says “go ahead then” YaYa said “i know that’s right!”

On the patio elders laugh, smile and witness.
we listen we hear them on this two way street.
We listen to our cousins in the Congo and in Sudan we begin again towards sentient solidarity like we never left.. and maybe it is just a reunion a long time comin

Worlds that have always shared axis grooved in reunion like Miss Major and Big Black like Marsha’s centennial trip to the country jail and the attica rebellion ciphering like Malcolm X and Yuri Kochiyama we find in each other enhanced awareness, abilities, and humanity. Our healing & liberation is connected This Black August our healing through liberation is imminent.

With revolutionary love to the dancers, photographers ,music makers and volunteers, creators who made this production possible.

Were you a part of our trajectory shift last sunday at HOODHOUSE? What did you set free or gather and gain while in ceremony?
Whats the Black August wish you are willing to work for?

Introducing: New Orleans-born & based Hip-Hop artist Erica E. @jamalmalachi Also known as Erica Ether, is a rapper from New Orleans’ lower 9th Ward and a co-founder of Cut+Sew Records & Ent.

Her music pairs complex, dense lyricism with ethereal, often atmospheric, experimental production that challenges the boundaries between genres. Her lyrics cover topics such as love, personal growth & development, systemic oppression & revolutionary action, as well as battle raps, songs to ride to, and songs to party to. Each record, each project is a new sound, a new flow, a new face.

In 2025, she released her first official project on Cut+Sew Records & Ent.
, the 3-track EP, ‘…and it showed me 3 faces.’

@hoodschoolnyc + @houseisliberation is bringing Erica Ether and her force of power, creativity and lyricism like the great migration to one of Hip Hop’s home bases on 125th in Harlem for HOODHOUSE : A Dance Party Tribute To The Black Radical Tradition #blackaugust2026
