What is a listening bar? 🎧

Listening bars began in Japan as jazz kissa, small cafés where people came to hear records played on great sound systems. Now they’re spreading around the world.

The idea is simple: a room built for the music. The sound is great, the records are chosen with care, and everyone there came to listen instead of talking over the band.

At @justlistenfoundation - that’s our mission too. We create spaces where music gets full attention, and we support the emerging artists who make it, so they can tour, play, and be heard.

Happy to report that one of the two Phase 1 motions that hit a snag in committee has now passed Council last Friday, just two weeks after the Ad Hoc Committee on Film, Entertainment and Creative Industry kicked off. This motion aims to waive or greatly reduce the LAFD “Spot Check” fee if a Fire Safety Officer is already assigned or an inspector can’t make it to set.

Stay tuned for the last Phase 1 motion aiming to slash fees for filming at City facilities — the committee will take it up very soon!

EXPERTISE IS BECOMING THE NEXT INFLUENCE. 🔥

Social media is changing.

The next wave won’t only belong to entertainers, celebrities, or people chasing trends.

It’s going to belong to people who actually KNOW SOMETHING.

That’s why I’m glad I started Your Welding Coach.

I wasn’t trying to become an “influencer.” I was teaching what I knew, documenting the process, answering questions, and building a library of knowledge.

And now that content can become much more.

Your experience can become content.
Your content can become a product.
Your product can become an asset.
And that asset can become part of your legacy.

If you’re 40, 50, or 60 years old and you’ve been doing something for 20 or 30 years, don’t underestimate what you know.

You have something valuable:

EXPERIENCE.

You know what the textbook leaves out.
You know what happens when things go wrong.
You know how to solve problems because you’ve lived through them.

So start the YouTube channel.
Write the eBook.
Build the course.
Offer consulting.
Train the next generation.
Create something that can keep working even when you’re no longer doing all the physical work.

Your exit plan doesn’t have to mean leaving the industry.

It can mean changing your position in the industry.

Go from doing all the labor to teaching the labor.
Go from carrying the knowledge in your head to turning it into intellectual property.
Go from getting paid once for your time to creating something that can teach and earn over and over again.

That’s the future.

And for experienced welders, supervisors, instructors, fabricators, ironworkers, mechanics, electricians, plumbers, operators, and tradespeople in general—

DON’T RETIRE YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

Document it.
Package it.
Teach it.
Own it.
Pass it down.

The next big influencer in your industry might not look like an influencer at all.

It might be a 50-year-old tradesman with 30 years of experience who finally decided to turn the camera on. 🎯
