we love our soy sauce. chatting about it, showing it off, and—most of all—sharing it with you 🤎

Today, we got a visit from a local celebrity. And she brought her parents and big brother, too.

When I started making soy sauce, I asked chef @jameswayman if he could give me some feedback. To my surprise, he put it on his menu and we haven’t looked back since. Now we’re in our sixth year @moromishoyu and proud to be sharing our handcrafted soy sauces with so many passionate home cooks and professional chefs. Check out our website to learn more moromishoyu.com

Gently torched Moromi shiro miso with a dice of fresh green almonds, Moromi rye soy sauce ice cream garnished with young spruce tips, shaved green almonds and of course @brownetradingco caviar!

Over this past weekend we were able to visit @moromishoyu and got to taste and learn about the amazing products they offer. Their influence can be seen on the menu tonight.

Last Thursday, The Shipwright’s Daughter had the extraordinary privilege of being part of something truly special down at River Bar in Westerly, RI.

A Dinner for Jake drew together an incredible group of chefs, donors, and neighbors — and what struck us most wasn’t the talent in the room, though there was plenty of it. It was the generosity. The willingness of people to come together and show up for one another, which somehow feels like a rare thing in this fast-paced world.

The evening was made beautiful by so many generous hands: @echo_rock_flowers brought the most stunning florals, @squigglerentals transformed the tables into something out of a dream, and @toutonselection & @mancinibeverage kept the wine flowing in the best possible way 🍷🌷✨. And to the chefs who poured their hearts onto every plate: @cheftyleranderson, @evanhennessey, @jameswayman, River Bar’s Executive Chef Kevin English, and our own @chefdavidstandridge, we are endlessly grateful .🙏

A special thank you to James and the entire River Bar family for opening your doors and including us in such a meaningful night. Evenings like this are a reminder of just how much we can do for one another when we come together, and we are so grateful to have been part of it.

To everyone who came, who gave, who cooked, and who cared, and to Jake, we’re with you. 🤍

If you’d like to support @jakerojas, the link to his GoFundMe is in our bio.

This past week our very own @bob.florence and @debbi_michiko_florence had the pleasure of attending A Dinner For Jake at @riverbarwesterly — a wonderful fundraising dinner for @jakerojas with a 5-course dinner made by talented chefs: @chefdavidstandridge @cheftyleranderson @evanhennessey , River Bar’s executive chef Kevin English, and our own @jameswayman

In the dish that @jameswayman created, he used our saishakomi shoyu (meaning “twice brewed”) and our fermented cayenne hot sauce. His dish was prepared with beets, avocado leaf, and sesame.

All proceeds of this fundraising dinner went towards helping Jake during his battle with throat cancer. We have linked his gofundme in our bio in the case that you are moved to make a donation 🤎

Thank you for an unforgettable night!

4 of 4: Last Thursday @riverbarwesterly held of a dinner to support chef and friend @jakerojas.

I hung in the kitchen with @chefdavidstandridge @cheftyleranderson @evanhennessey @jameswayman & River Bar’s executive chef, Kevin English @employeenumber8antoinewalker. I loved the chefly banter at they crafted their individual dishes for the diners.

Loved the vibe, the genuine care and friendship and how this community always shows up for each other.

Thanks to @ranegram and @jameswayman for letting me tag along.
