surprise! out today, the second LINExBOOMKAT cassette tape limited edition... 'Aurora Terminalis' (LINE_157) by William Basinski + Richard Chartier Longtime pals and collaborators William Basinski ( @musex1 ) and Richard Chartier ( @richardchartiersound ) return with 'Aurora Terminalis’, a pastel-hued refraction of light-headed, subtly kosmische synth tones and washed-out rhythms presented thru a sheet of whirring tape noise..... More formally structured than their previous releases - but packed with so much fine detail that you'll need repeat listens to illuminate all the filigree cracks - it’s an advanced variant of minimalism from two of the scene's most imposing figures." — @boomkatonline visit boomkat.com https://boomkat.com/products/aurora-terminalis

William Basinski (@musex1), a pioneering figure on the experimental music scene, returns to Big Ears on Saturday, March 29. He'll arrive on the heels of this captivating interview with @post_trash_ where he chats with Benji Heywood about memories of his older days, legends of the 1980s New York art scene, his musical output over the years, and the concept of time, among many other things. We can't wait for him to upend our sense of time and space. 📸 James Elaine (@jamie2062)

WILLIAM BASINSKI + RICHARD CHARTIER 'Aurora Terminalis' (LINE_157) A decade is a long pause… how the world has changed since… Longtime friends and collaborators, iconic ambient composer William Basinski and sound artist/composer Richard Chartier return to LINE with their first new work together since 2015’s ‘Divertissement’ LP (Important Records). From an unexpected sudden burst of sound jaggedly spiraling outward, the tumult fades and shockwaves slide into lulling haze of a melody. Background nuance—nearly imperceptible—and foreground romanticism ripple near each others’ edges. Then, rhythmic and liquid, an erratic drifting over a clouded void... an 'un-still' life... a slow tracing. 'Aurora Terminalis'… a fading gauzy signal for a finality. OUT JAN 10 on all digital platforms. pre-order now & receive 2 advance excerpts, now & Dec 20. 👀 NOW ON VIEW 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙬 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 group show including ENGAGE artist Xie Hongdong Click Ten,Gallery, Beijing October 13 - December 15 2024 Click Ten Gallery is honored to present the group exhibition “Shadow of Things”. The exhibition title, Shadow of Things, can be interpreted and viewed in several different directions. It is not based in a philosophical, historical, or psychological idea that requires selected artists’ works to support a curatorial premise; but It is a poetic phrase that came to mind one morning like a cloud passing by my window. Although it is complex in that it suggests many avenues of thought, it is more simply about relationships; relationships between things seen and things unseen, the mutable and the immutable, body and spirit, form and meaning. What relationally happens to an individual artwork when placed in a group of other artist’s works in a shared neutral space? And what is the relationship between the curator and artist?
