Have you ever shared an opinion, then watched someone’s face to see whether it was okay to keep talking?

I know that feeling.

Growing up, I learned to think about my mother’s reaction before giving my own answer.

Even now, I sometimes notice the urge to soften what I say or explain a simple preference.

I’m learning to pause long enough to ask:

“What do I actually think?”

Sometimes, practising means saying:

“I’d prefer something else.”
“I need a little time to decide.”
“I see it differently.”

And sometimes, it means admitting to myself what I want before I’m ready to say it aloud.

If expressing yourself feels frightening, you can begin with a small, everyday choice, with someone who respects your right to make it.

You’re allowed time to find your words.

If you’d like support reconnecting with your voice and rebuilding self-trust, you’re warmly invited to visit the link in my bio.

Yesterday, I recorded a conversation with Jamie Rockymore-Bess inspired by my article, The Pain That Became My Purpose.

We spoke about finding my voice, rebuilding self-trust, and learning to return to myself after emotional abuse.

I’m grateful to Jamie for holding such a warm space for this conversation.

I hope it helps someone feel seen and a little less alone.

I’ll share the recording when it’s available. 🌿
