A quote that has been with me over these last few months became popular though the aids crisis in the 1970’s and that is “bury your friends in the morning, protest in the afternoon and dance all night.” Our dancing last week, for me, was an act of resistance. Dancing keeps you in the fight, moves your emotions through your body and gives you the joy you need to wake up and fight again. What an unexpected joy to dance so much. Keep dancing, fam!

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Jim passed away on January 1 after an intense battle with leukemia and chemotherapy. He died peacefully, in my arms, surrounded by our kids and one of his brothers. We are heartbroken, but so grateful for our life with Jim and his generous love for everyone he knew. All are invited to Jim’s Celebration of Life service on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10 am at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church 9248 East Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, we are encouraging people to donate blood to support those in need. Thank you for your loving kindness toward our family. We send our love to you and yours.

It was a wonderful and terrible week. So much goodness being together with my family. So much suffering as my dad endures the agony of chemotherapy.

For the first time, we had a photographer take our family photo (instead of rigging up a cell phone on a tree stump, which is our usual 😊) Anna met us on the fifth floor of the hospital, where my dad is undergoing treatment. We are so grateful for her way with us and these treasures…more to come.

All 16 of us experience this differently, adults and kids alike. We all agree that Mom is amazing—so present, honest, hopeful, attentive, patient, prayerful, smart, persistent.

I am so grateful for this family ❤️‍🩹
