DM/Comment “MONKEY” for our guide on how you can help our primates!

Nothing is safe when the forest runs out of ground. Not the birds, nor the primates, nor the apes, nor us. On World Primate Day, let’s spotlight the conservation efforts to protect Singapore’s primates and the primates and apes in our neighbouring forests in Borneo.

Singapore has three primates of conservation significance: the Raffles’ Banded Langur, Long-tailed Macaque,  and the Sunda Slow Loris. The @janegoodallsg runs working groups that recruit volunteers (keep an eye out on their FB pages). Through ecological surveys, data collection, education and outreach, JGIS commits to the protection of these key species locally and in Malaysia, for the Raffles’ Banded Langur.

Zooming into the Lower Kinabatangan in Borneo, we spotlight the reforestation efforts of @apemalaysia , a crucial initiative that restores the habitat of key primate species like the Orangutan, the Proboscis Monkey, and the Silvered Langur.

This World Primate Day, we hope that more people will be inspired to make small, actionable steps that make an impact — like gifting a tree 🌳 . We’ve included links to support @janegoodallsg and @apemalaysia in our bio!
