Oh hey. Look at what landed on our doorstep.

Unbelievable honor to have THE COVER of the @newsdayfeedme Top 50 issue!!

Coming out of our 2025 hard transition from the old shack to our new home, we set out to accomplish certain things in 2026. We wanted to bring vibrant energy to our efforts and execute at a level we've never reached before. We expanded our reliance on local seafood, not just oysters from our heroic harvesters but also drawing from those fishing our local waters, whether in the pound traps or rod and reel. This earned our place on the Seafood Trail with the @long.island.fish initiative.

The team who puts this issue together have always been so supportive and forthcoming. Honest and insightful. It is a proper magazine, full of hard work and careful consideration. Thank you to @erica_marcus , @janelear1 and their colleagues for the work you do. The beautiful cover photo (and others inside) is the work of @emmarosemilligan.

Inside these pages, we must point out, among other sections, is a special look at the food coming out of Greenport right now. We are thrilled to see so many friends and colleagues get their due. From our buddies at @firstandsouth @aldoscoffeecompany to the OG's at @thefriskyoyster and @noahsgreenport to a special recognition of @cheoavila and his special newcomer @stereo.resto . In a world of increasing sameness, the takeaway is about Greenport's individuality and resilience.

Folks, it probably doesn't need to be said but it's a hard year for small businesses, for hospitality, for our purveyors and for our customers. We see good places calling it quits every day.

So, we won't lie...this magazine landed like a shot in the arm. Thanks again @newsday and to every person who walked through the doors this year.

HOW HANDMADE ICE CREAM IS MADE (and joyfully eaten) for @newsday @newsdayfeedme earlier this summer!!!! I love photographing beautiful things (like those cosmically juicy cherries) + JOY (look at those faces) + bts on hand crafted making + of course, ice cream. Thank you so very much to @dmrtoast and @janelear1 for giving me the opp to run around + make some magic!!!!! I am so grateful 🙏📸🍦

This season’s Feed Me landed in subscriber mailboxes this weekend. I wrote a story about family-owned restaurants including Northport’s @mamachanshouse, Huntington’s @pareaofhuntington, Westbury’s polloselpaisa, the multi-town @labottegaitaliangourmet + Syosset’s @hilltopkitchenandbar. Erica wrote about Shelter Island in the off season + the enduring popularity of @robkesnorthport, Andi wrote about the modern Indian on the Island and Melissa curated an empanada trail map. Buen Provecho!

In print this week: LI’s Best New Restaurants for @newsdayfeedme !!!! Earlier this year I had the best time 📸’ing these fun + fab + absolutely delish spots, holding back the secret that they were indeed best of the best 💋 Whether it’s French onion soup from @letoileob, homemade brisket from @beachbbq1, grilled kebabs from @turquoisepersiangrillnbar, or dumplings handmade to order at @nanxiangsoupdumplings, they all knocked it out of the park + made my job so easy. 10 spots in total that range in flavor and price point; we love a high/low list!!!

I started my career as a food photographer but pivoted away from it during covid. I also grew up working FOH in F&B, from fine dining and then to a Michelin star, so getting to “play” in these dining rooms and kitchens for this piece was so joyful for me. TYSM @janelear1 @dmrtoast @livfalcigno for thinking of me, the opp, and letting me have so much fun. Newsday has the best team!!! Outtakes, portraits, and details 🔜
