While it is generally against my nature to create a post that is “all about me,” I opted to share this because in actuality it’s a demonstration of how you can teach or inspire someone young who enters your orbit.

Here’s the story: @francescamassey_, a 5’9” beauty, entered my world at age 12. Her parents hoped to determine if the modeling industry was a good fit for their daughter and approached me for consultation. I offered that 12 was too young and suggested she observe backstage and “work” a couple of days on my show team to see how the professional models handle themselves working with producers, stylists, etc. (photo of her blowing up balloons). Francesca loved the experience.

When she turned 13 and hit 5’ 10” in height, I trained her for runway and mentored her throughout her career. The Dallas fashion community embraced her quickly. At 5’11” by age 14 she became one of the city’s leading runway models, with a signature sophistication that belied her years. She successfully balanced academia and modeling with excellence throughout her middle and high school years.

That twelve year old grew into an intellectual, funny, warm hearted, confident and stunning woman. Two or three years ago, she headed to New York for college. I ran across the balloon photo of her at age 12 and texted it to her with fond memories. In response, she shared this collage visual of her class assignment; collage someone who inspires you while integrating points from the class curriculum.

An iron first in a velvet glove? She nailed me. Makes me smile. Makes me extra appreciative for my husband who has to live with me daily. Makes me self-reflect. I would guess that a few students along the way don’t share her feelings, but nor were they serious about bringing their best attitudes to the table. Francesca always did.

This post is done with humility and with the goal of encouraging others to mentor youth when the opportunity presents itself. If you have a business, large or small, please consider utilizing students whenever possible! It’s an honor to be able to contribute to young lives!

Remembering the incomparable Bob Mackie. ✨

Photographed at Bob Mackie’s 1990 fashion show in New York City, where “Viva Las Vegas” set the tone for an unforgettable celebration of fantasy, beauty, and unapologetic glamour.

Bob understood that fashion could be more than clothing. It could be theater, spectacle, joy, and pure transformation. I feel fortunate to have captured these moments through my lens and to preserve a small piece of his extraordinary creative legacy.

We lost another legend today. 🥹

Bob Mackie, the legendary fashion designer known for creating some of the most iconic looks in entertainment history, has passed away at the age of 87.

Mackie was best known for his extraordinary costume designs for legendary stars including Cher, Carol Burnett, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and many more.

His unforgettable creations included Cher’s iconic stage costumes, the famous curtain-rod dress worn by Carol Burnett, and countless glamorous looks that helped define decades of Hollywood and pop culture.

His remarkable creativity and lasting influence on fashion and entertainment will continue to inspire generations.

Rest in peace, Bob Mackie. 🕊️
