The day we made cocktails at the 50 Best Bars ceremony in Milan, at the Perrier bar, with five other Marriott hotel bars from around the world. I saw friends, idols, people I look up to and who inspire me, and I was so happy to see the Brazilian crew all across Milan.

There’s something special about a beautiful bar, where the lighting creates the perfect intimacy with the bartender across from you, and perhaps even with the guest sitting beside you. But when the bartender is @japanesecraftspirits from @punchroomedition in Tokyo, the evening becomes truly magical. A unique kind of sophistication — in every gesture, every glass, and in the carefully curated selection of drinks featuring @nikkawhiskyglobal , which made the atmosphere utterly unforgettable.

On July 8, Osamu Kojima @osamkojima, owner bartender of Bar Alegre @bar_alegra_hiroshima, joined us from Hiroshima for Guest Shift No.30. Known for its dedication to Japanese bartending craftsmanship and hospitality, Bar Alegre moves seamlessly from classic cocktails to personalized creations, with each drink shaped around the individual guest. For his evening at Punch Room Tokyo, Kojima brought this approach to Tokyo through four cocktails showcasing the character and philosophy of Alegre. The Bartender Take Over series continues at Punch Room Tokyo as we bring some of the best bars and bartenders from Japan and around the world to Tokyo. Special thanks to @whiske_jp for sponsorship.

I know I’m a few weeks late, but… ❤️ Attending the Asia’s 50 Best Bars ceremony two years in a row was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my time at The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza. After entering the list for the first time at No. 36 last year, the Punch Room Tokyo team surpassed that incredible achievement this year—ranking No. 23 in Asia and being named The Best Bar in Japan 2026. To say I’m immensely proud of this team would be an understatement. Having worked closely alongside them for over two and a half years, I witnessed firsthand the countless hours, late nights, passion, and dedication they poured into building Punch Room into the bar it is today. This recognition could not be more well deserved. Congratulations to the entire Punch Room Tokyo team! 🥂 Although I’ve now moved on to the next chapter of my career, I will always be one of Punch Room Tokyo’s biggest fans—and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
