You wanna know the Truth…….i wrote “The Roots” years ago but it’s so relevant for today’s time it was born from the soil watered by the tears, sweat, prayers, and blood of those who endured slavery, survived terror, overcame lynchings, faced segregation, and still chose hope over hate. It is a tribute to the ancestors whose names history forgot, but whose sacrifices live in every generation that followed.
Juneteenth is more than a celebration of freedom delayed, it is a reminder that freedom has always come with a cost, and that truth must never be buried. Though they tried to uproot us, they never understood that we were not the fruit hanging from the branches, even when they picked from the trees we were the roots beneath the ground.
This music honors those who walked through chains and left us courage. It honors those who marched, those who prayed, those who fought, and those who never made it home. It speaks to the unfinished work of justice and the enduring power of a people who turned pain into purpose and suffering into a song.
May we remember.
May we heal.
May we tell the truth.
And may we never forget that from the deepest roots, the strongest trees rise.
Dedicated to the ancestors.
Dedicated to the survivors.
Dedicated to every generation yet to come.
Happy Juneteenth.
“They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were the roots.”

I got a warning from IG saying this would have limited reach because it’s over 90 seconds. I posted it anyway. Some things are more important than an algorithm. Wellness is not a trend, it is a commitment and this was on my heart.

I recorded this while silently dealing with depression and self doubt. A friend of mine, Tosin, told me how much this song resonated with him and that gave me the courage to release it with a visual. Sometimes a friendly nudge is all it takes to remind you that your story matters.

“Robin Williams” by CeeLo Green speaks to the strength it takes to smile through pain. It honors the legends who made the world smile while fighting their own storms. “We don’t know what the next man is going through.” So many of us are taught to stay silent. I have lived that chapter and I know how heavy it can feel.

Here is a reminder that your story matters. You matter.

Now I want to hear from you. Drop a comment and share your experience. Let’s turn the comments into a space of truth and support. And if it speaks to you, share it with someone. Love y’all.

This is a cover of “Robin Williams” by CeeLo Green.

@anonymous_a_b_c_ , on this day, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to you Sandz, Cable, Noble, and so many more titles you’ve earned in my life. Thank you for always showing up with love, loyalty, and a brotherhood that has never wavered. Your friendship has been a constant anchor, and because of that, you’re my brother for life.

My cable stretches as far as you’ll ever need it to go. You’ve been there through the highs and lows, never giving me a reason to question your heart, loyalty, or intentions. I believe in you just as much as you believe in me.

I’ll never forget how you helped move everything into my restaurant when I first opened Rosako’s, offering encouragement during those early, uncertain days. You’ve never missed a single one of my kids’ birthdays, and they love their Uncle Sandz. When I needed you, you always showed up. Whether it was coaching my son in football or stepping in when I couldn’t be there, you’ve been an unwavering support.

Your actions, respect, and love have shown me what it truly means to call someone family. Blood doesn’t make family your actions do. And with everything you’ve done, you’ve proven time and time again what it means to be my brother. Thank you for being you.
