Peachy Keen, 2026
Colored pencil on paper
8 x 11 inches

Jared Freschman’s fluid compositions conjure the hidden spiritual practices and lives of today’s queer youth. Ombré fades and jewel-tone color palettes open a door to nostalgic, dream-like memories. Freschman illustrates allegories that combine vivid flashbacks, mysticism, and intimate gay archetypes that own the composition. He builds a liminal space where control lies in the hands of queer individuals. Perspectives shift from first to third person, and the artist’s lived experiences mingle with those of a broader queer collective.

Birthday weekend in reverse order! I have the best friends anyone could ask for - I’ve said this a million times and I’ll say it a million more. It’s impossible to even begin to describe how deeply loved I feel and how much love I have for them in return. Not everyone made it into the photos, but you know who you are 🖤 (birthday was 5/31, just a recap 😘)

Join us on The Mezz at Gotham Bowery on June 4 to celebrate the opening of WHAT ARE YOU GAY FOR?, a group exhibition featuring work by queer artists, curated by Stefanie Boyd-Berks.

WHAT ARE YOU GAY FOR? is both a reclamation and a celebration of the word “gay,” returning it to its simplest meaning: love. The Pride 2026 Gay for Gotham campaign (launching June 1) asked the Gotham community a single question: What are you gay for? Members of the Gotham community were invited to be photographed and answer the prompt. Together, the portraits create a living archive of identity, desire, humor, and self-expression. Those campaign portraits are presented alongside works by artists and makers who translated their responses into painting, sculpture, photography, craft, and installation.

Presented on The Mezz at Gotham Bowery, the exhibition spans disciplines, aesthetics, and experience levels. Polished works sit beside intimate crafts and sketches. Together, the works reject hierarchy and reflect the many textures of queer expression and creative life.

The Ca' d'la Vòlp Residency is back for season two! And to kick start an Enchanted April, we welcome back @jaredfresch, fresh from a solo show @hexumgallery

Jared's last show was described as drawing "rainbow visions of an Italian summer" by @sevendaysvt and recently his work was featured in the Compendium of Coloured Pencil by @thedrawingstall

For this period @cadlavolp he is working on some new pieces taking direct inspiration from the garden, and celebrating his 30th birthday with us next week!

🥳🎉🎊🥳🎉🎊

Please join us this Friday, March 20th, from 4–8 p.m. for our Closing Party and Drink and Draw with Jared Freschman! This is also the last day to catch Jared’s solo exhibition 𝓔𝓪𝓼𝔂 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻𝓼 here at the gallery.

Grab a drink from our bartender Richard, pick up some colored pencils and paper (Jared’s medium of choice), and join us for a fun, informal drawing session.
