Jared Williams facilitates this month’s Contact Improvisation Jam at the Field Center!

In this warm-up into open jamming we will explore how we might track, enter, cultivate and exit trios and group improvisation

Jared has been studying, researching and falling down inside of CI spaces since 2011.
He has learned Contact Improvisation from and worked with Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, Taja Will, Chris Aiken, Jennifer Nugent, Keith Hennessy and Scott Wells among many others and has been facilitating and teaching Contact Improvisation since 2016.

He founded the JP Contact Improvisation Jam in Jamaica Plain, Boston where he lived for many years and continues to teach and facilitate CI based workshops and events in his role as Director at the Field Center in Vermont.

In his dancing he is interested in how we dance with the world as it is, how we cultivate an ethical wildness, group wilderness as places of emergent structure, rest and edges.

All Levels Welcome
Beginners - we ask that you please attend the classes.
*EVERY SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH*
SEPTEMBER 9TH | 6-9 PM @ PIKE STUDIO

✨Beyond agradecida for the 12 days of magic created at @_thefieldcenter with the Summer CI Fest 2026❣️Three waves of beginnings… wow! What a journey🌀

🙏🏾Forever grateful for the dedication, hard-work and commitment from @anyasmolnikovastudio @nuriabowart @jaredtaylorw @supple.flame , all the deep knowledge shared by all the teachers… the openness and energy of all participants, work-exchange team, kitchen magicians and all staff.

💞Especial cariño, admiración y apreciación to my sweet @liliannakane for cultivating an event that holds diversity in ideas, rigorous learning, patient care, steady focus and a nurturing environment. Also much love to mi hermanita @embodieduniverse por la magia compartida, por traerme una probadita de México, por la escucha, las carcajadas, la inigualable complicidad y el gran compromiso en lo que hacemos.

🫀 I feel inspired and re-charged by all the dances, moments, conversations, memories, new connections, friendships and ripples together… Until next dances🍃

✨🙌🏾🫀🌀✋🏾🦶🏽🍃

Happy Dia do Capoeirista!

Capoeira has given me much more than movement.

It has introduced me to people from every corner of the world, taught me to listen before reacting, to respect different paths, and to find joy in playing together.

These photographs were made over the past year in Vermont at @_thefieldcenter . They are small pieces of a much larger story about Capoeira New England, one that continues to grow every time a berimbau is played, a song is shared, or two people meet at the foot of the roda.

To everyone who keeps this tradition alive: educators, students, musicians, organizers, families, and friends. Thank you.

Salve a Capoeira.
Salve os Mestres e Mestras.

A few glimmers from my time at @in_situ_polyculture this past June - two week artist residency in Westminster, Vermont. ✨️

Fridge magnet poetry, homemade pizza, fields of fireflies, cold water creek swimming, dancing dancing dancing, writing writing writing, CI studio explorations at @_thefieldcenter, outdoor showering under stars, ballads by the fire, farm stands, hammock laying, paper making, movie watching, sweaty deck yoga, midnight yurt conversations and on and on.

What a gift for time to slow down in this way. Thank you @artist.cjensen and @owenschuh for the space you hold. An absolute dream to be and make on these lands. Thank you for having me. ♡

Thank you to my brilliant cohort; you all are absolute magic. @allisondebritz @mikataga_ @simonekearneystudio @apekurovsky @motylpottery
