LGL Thursdays, Episode 11.

This week, we celebrated two institutions.

VERVE Magazine's second birthday, and One Park — one last time.

It was A Taste of VERVE, and somehow it managed to feel like a birthday party, a farewell, and a love letter to Cape Town's underground all at once.

One of the highlights? Seeing Jeriah swap his notebook for an apron. We've always known him as one of the minds behind VERVE, but this time he was behind the pass, serving a menu he created himself and running the kitchen like he'd been doing it for years. Safe to say... the man can cook.

The DJs kept things moving all day, but the live sets really grabbed us. Master Kiii and Jarry Pitboi brought the kind of lyricism that reminds you why Cape Town's underground rap scene deserves far more attention. Sharp pens. Big presence. No gimmicks.

And then there's One Park. We've said it before, but it's one of the city's most unique venues. The space, the atmosphere... and yes, those iconic tilted DJ decks. It'll be sorely missed.

Thanks for everything, One Park. And happy birthday to our friends at VERVE. Here's to many more.

Now... where are we pulling up for Episode 12? 👀

As @one_park_cpt comes to a close this week we’ve decided to bring the family together, around a warm meal and some good music.

A Taste of VERVE is everything we do, held in one night.

Community. Culture. Creativity.

Come celebrate our second birthday with us this Thursday at 6pm. We have @masterkiii_ and @jarrypitboi47 blessing us on the mic, backed by @fernandofinds and @permikwaali, and a special set by @chocolate.sinclair himself

Our editor, @cooking_with_jerry, is finally gonna show us what he can do in the kitchen.

Tickets go live tomorrow.

Queezy visits the Races - Documentary
Link in Bio 🏎️✨

This observational documentary follows Queezy Babaz, a Cape Town performance artist whose
work explores queer and Coloured identity. The film juxtaposes intimate narration by Queezy with
scenes of them exploring Killarney Racecourse during a massive street-car event. Dressed in a
sequined mini-dress and heels, Queezy is filmed interacting with attendees and making new
friends, finding unity and belonging in a space frequently stereotyped as masculine and
aggressive. In this film, the kitted-out motorcar symbolizes the intersection between the fierce,
creative queer spirit, and the profound love and unity within the Coloured community.
