Last year @christieimages and @tifotos we created a new film! It’s call Midlife Crisis! We are accepted @thevimff and @ 2026 Reel Minds Mental Health Film Festival!

THE START OF A BIGGER CONVERSATION
While mountains provide the backdrop, the message of Midlife Crisis extends far beyond adventure sports. At its heart, the film is about the challenges we all face when life takes an unexpected turn. It explores mental health, relationships, identity, vulnerability and the importance of having people around us when things get difficult. Thank you so much for our sponsor to help this film to be an impact with other people. Many friends help with there stories! @hellyhansen @climbonsquamish @nemoequipment @tenacle.ca @blackdiamond @whistlerblackcomb
Film premiere Nov 18 at the Rio @thevimff

Find mountain partners who are motivated by the journey and enjoy conversations, snacks and beautiful camp spots as much as you do!

Thanks for being such a great mountain partner and friend @jasmincaton ✨❤️
…
We headed up to Robson with the goal of enjoying the trip and exploring a new-to-us place with the potential for a summit bid if conditions aligned.
The overnight freeze was not as good as we needed to feel okay about heading up, so we decided to go to Resplendent instead which still offered its share of problem solving and incredible views!
Highlights included:
- Being in such a wild and beautiful place amongst the highest peaks in the Rockies
-Seeing friends on the way up and down which made it a social occasion and great for sharing info on the conditions
-Camping in a beautiful meadow on our descent and walking barefoot in the grass was an incredible bonus after frozen toes camping on the glacier.

2026 Alpine Development School! So stoked that I had the honor and privilege to be a part of @shejumps Alpine Development School at @valhallamountaintouring We were taught and led by ACMG women guides - @jasmincaton , owner of VMT along with @hannahdkendall @laelcashen and they absolutely crushed it!
•
Huge thanks to the one man wonder @mathieulebail our lodge custodian and chef @wimmersarah for keeping us fueled with all kinds of delicious homemade snacks and meals. Also, @heidizandell our She Jumps “vibe guide” who brought all the face glitter and stoke!
•
The course was a combination of classroom sessions and long field days touring the backcountry of Canada’s Selkirk Mountain range. We had great snow stability, incredible views, shredded fun, rad lines and had amazing weather for the majority of the week. We used Avalanche and weather forecasting sites, along with digital map platforms to interpret and better understand terrain management, navigation, route-finding and decision-making. I gained a new level of confidence, knowledge and skills for making smarter decisions in the backcountry.
•
The week long course tested me both physically and mentally. Stretching me into a more confident rider and connecting my existing intuition to actual gained concrete skills to feel more self-sufficient. I no longer just see myself as a passenger in the backcountry. Now I can be a contributing member to the decision making while traveling with a group in the backcountry.

To all the beautiful ladies, who choose yes, and had the courage and vulnerability to join this trip - I’m forever grateful for your tears of both struggle and joy. All the deep belly laughs, bagging peaks and shredding down creamy corn alpine bowls. Sauna story telling time and the most outrageous costume dance party!

2027 Alpine Development School registration is now live on the She Jumps website or through the link in their bio on Instagram.

If you want to experience this kind of magic in the mountains and take your avalanche and backcountry skills to the next level this trip and course was made for you!

Mountains and Yoga 2026.

Our (@jasmincaton & I) 6th summer retreat @valhallamountaintouring was another magical gathering filled with humans living simply, practicing presence and being together in the mountains, one footstep at a time. We were gifted with crisp cool morning practices on the lodge deck and clear sunny days wandering with views into the Bugaboos and beyond. 🌄

To all of who said yes and showed up so fully, thank you! And a most special thanks to a few of my dearest and oldest friends from Ontario who made the trip to the Valhalla mountains, it was beyond special to share this part of my world with you. And, to Jas and her beautiful family for being so helpful in all the ways, this retreat would not have been possible without you. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Not a lot more words.
Heart is full and my being has returned home to family & my garden, embracing the summer we didn’t plan for (more on that another day:).

2027 Mountains and Yoga dates are being finalized, but tentatively mark July 1-5th in your calendar. Registration will open later in the autumn. DM me if you want to be on the first to know list. Xo

And, lastly, I have one more 2026 retreat. Nov 4-8th @stowellakefarm on Salt Spring Island. There is some space open for this mostly silent and deeply restorative autumn gathering.

Thanks to @jasmincaton & @claire.fraser for sharing some pics with me! ❤️❤️

Supporting our community is a core value of VMT, and we believe that helping youth feel seen and encouraged as they embark into the adventure of adult life is a worthy avenue to show our support.

With this in mind we created the Valhalla Mountain Touring Outdoor Adventure Award.

This $1500 award is presented to a student from the New Denver graduating class who shows interest in outdoor adventures or the environment, and is intended to support their next chapter of an adventurous life of their choosing.

We would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Ezekiel Schwartz @e_schwartz9 for being this year’s recipient of the award.

Ezekiel grew up in New Denver, shreds impressively on a board and mountain bike and has a local job building mountain bike trails this summer. Longer term he is planning to become a forest fire fighter so he can continue to pursue his snowboard dreams in the winter while protecting our forests in the summer.

When we asked Ezekiel what he has loved most about growing up in the Slocan Valley, he mentioned the mountains and terrain, the recreation community and culture, and the knowledgeable mentors he has learned from. We couldn’t agree more!

life lately (non guiding edition) photo dump.

a random assortment of spring so far.

trying to balance the very full guiding schedule with the things that bring me joy . there is a disproportionate amount of dog photos - that will replace some simple faves - early morning couch coffee, Netflix in the bath and reading in bed with my fleecy blankie 😜
