🌱 New sod is down! HUGE THANKS to Murray Vetsch and Adam Devries from Westwind Enterprises Ltd, who generously donated the sod! This is a significant contribution to our park, and we’re incredibly grateful. 💚 The sod wouldn’t have been installed without the hard work of community volunteers and @townofsmithers staff (shout out Brendon and Will for the epic after hours push🙌), so thanks to everyone who lent a hand! 🙏Thank you also to @northcountryrentals_smithersbc for the continued assistance and to the Smithers Firemen’s Association for irrigation support, helping us give the new grass the best chance to take root! 📣A Couple of Asks: • Please don’t walk or ride on the new sod while it takes root. • Keep off the skate park while it’s wet, especially in the mornings. It gets very slippery. Wait until the riding surface is dry before using it. Daily soaking will leave the park wet for at least the morning each day. We may need to continue watering for one to two weeks, depending on the weather. Together with the recent asphalt apron extension, the sod will help keep stones and debris off the riding surface—an essential safety improvement. Please help us honour this generous donation and community effort by giving the sod space to grow.
